- The results are in! After voting over the last few months on several categories, it is time to announce the winners (and losers) of the 2019 Lamley Awards! Not only am I announcing your choices for Best and Worst in several Hot Wheels and Matchbox categories, but I will unveil my choices as well. Do you agree with them? Let’s find out!
Any casting with headlights built as part of the windshield gets my vote. I love those.
The Porsche super is one of the most factory stolen supers of 2019

Was one of the 36% who went for the purple 911 GT3RS! I was soooo damn lucky to find one in a store around the corner from where I live at £1.75/$2.23. I bought it thinking she was a regular (that I haven't found yet), so my highlight of 2019 as it was the ONLY STH I'd seen all year!
Yeah the Panamera was a great casting and loved the grey color

That Willys is great. As for the Senna, at $1 I'm glad it exists at all!

I love that E Type Jag lightweight! The off-road Camaro is interesting too but I prefer the Jag! Gorgeous subject! Very nice execution!

Really surprised with the top 2 choices for worst licenced mainline. Imo, the Pacifica is a cool casting & I would love to see a real Pacifica lifted & made rally ready. And the robo car, I'll just say that I like innovation & you can't get much more innovation than the robo car & HWs did a great job with the casting. My personal worst was the ranger. I was let down by Ford with what they decided to give to the US with the real thing, & I was let down by HWs with what they put out, it's horrible, both Ford & HWs could have done better. Great video 👍🏾 I know a lot of work goes into these awards & I can tell a lot of work went into the video itself - TY.
To be fair the Street Creeper and the Jeepster are the easiest ones to mistake the mainline for the Super

Matchbox moving parts? Superb choices! Have a few of the original No3 brown Porsche 911 "Turbo" 1978 casting. Still have my 42yr old original. Love the Benz wagon but couldn't find the 911 Rally!

Interesting how the focus is shifting from JDM to Euro now. That's both good and bad for me, as the Euro cars I love will be in higher demand and therefore harder to find, but also they might produce more, so it's a win-win. Thanks John!

Completely agree with you about the 300ZX and especially in that white with red interior. Ditto about the Quattro 84 Sport: cannot wait for the red roadcar version, though might make my own! Panamera isn't bad and I even found the blue exclusive the other day. Wonderful to hear that Mattel have taken note of the Senna criticism. It just deserved better tampos as there was only some on the rear, and I totally appreciate why the wing was metal!
Totally agree with you about the 300SL Mercedes Benz. Colour doesn't matter, WHAT a car! I have a mint Corgi Jr in both red AND silver!

2019 was by far the hardest year for voting. Sooooo many epic models came out. Even now, long after the polls have ended, I'm still having second thoughts on some of the choices I made.
Of these, the S2000 and the 300ZX are my pics. Never been a massive JDM guy, but always loved that sort of era in cars.
I'm waiting for one or the other to put out a VW Corrado, or a proper Neon SRT4. :P

It seems like alot of people who voted most disappointing didn't vote based on model quality but rather on interest, especially in regards to matchbox opening parts cars.

That MBX Renault... I like the car, I like the concept, the way it opens is neat, and I could live without actual windows, but having a third of the car being discolored because it's plastic just ruined it for me.
The Baja Pacifica was one of the better new models, it's unique. If you want a street minivan, go get the Bisimoto Odyssey that's in the premium range. The time for basic ass minivans in the Hot Wheels lineup is over, bring out the weird and wonderful! Hell, I was slightly less excited by the main release just because it was first shown off with glow wheels, but I knew that wouldn't be coming to fruition, so, personal bias.

Im a porsche guy so the $TH porsche was my favorite, but followed closely by the '92 Mustang!
For me my favourite is the red corvette with the 4. Much better than the Bugati and the Porsche.

One thing for sure, collectors nowadays have tonnes of great models to choose from and can only get better.

I was realy hoping to see Skyline R32 or Subaru 22B as one of the best releases in basic, but unfortunately...
My personal best premium is 1st place the Skyline R32 HKS livery, 2nd place RWB Porsche, 3rd place Nissan 180sx (street tuners set) i was really exited about this casting in premium. The best basic release is for me Subaru 22B.

i hate the rear exhaust setup on the RWB.... I know the middle one is supposed to be from the turbos but to me it still looks dumb.

Guess I have terrible taste because the only and I mean only two cars I agreed with is the Purple Porsche Super and the Bugatti Chiron. I could not stand the Veyron casting but the Chiron looks great and my pick as number one (despite hating the two metallic color choices)
I would put the black R32 Skyline as the best premium of 2019, not only new models should apply to the category.

Chrysler Pacifica shouldn't have been in that offroad deco. Should have gone with how the Odyssey was done and kept it a clean civilian vehicle with a plain paint job.
Gassers r dope, wish we got general release ones like dragstrip demons in 2020.....please hot wheels, more dragstrip demons

I hope I can find a sth of the street creeper cheap.it’s obviously a real car .it’s a early 30’s Ford hot rod.I will be more than happy to add to my collection.the white car was my least favorite .I started collecting this year and found six supers in the wild ..three different supers and the white car was one that I traded away for a nova sth
If they are going to use HW originals as super treasure hunt cars, they should choose some of the "legendary" ones, like Rodger Dodger, Twin Mill, Bone Shaker or something like that.
Rusty Galloway twin mill, bone shaker and Rodger dodger had their turn as supers already but still hating on the super just because it’s a creature hot rod/generic super car is just stupid, I remember the 2017 awards and people voted velocita as the worst, I was like “what the hell? It was very well done”
Street creeper was a good super but was not deserving to be in worst catagory because it was a fantasy casting
@Civicrider555: You have my support. I like both licensed cars and HW originals. I just love the Night Shifter for example. I’d really want to see one with real riders on it. 🚗👍
Rusty Galloway yeah, there are some good fantasy castings but the colour variation on some of them makes the collectors back out on them, the 2013-14 boulevard set did a good job I giving some of the HW originals the justice they deserve like rigor motor and fangula, I have fangula from that set (still waiting for the wheels though)

The Willys gasser was one of the few RLC models I passed on. I think it is one of the worst of the year. Terrible color. Uninteresting. Weird looking as a gasser. Ugh. But that is just my opinion. I liked the Land Rover and Mercedes G class as the best. Realistic and unique choices. I voted for the Pacifica as most disappointing due to awful execution. I loved the choice but I wish it looked more like the Odyssey. That said the recent colors look way better than the first release with the ugly deco and terrible blue windows.
September last year i saw in a shop the Rally Porsche and the White Rally quattro and i became inmediatly a collector🚗🚙. Please help me!! i have now like 300, in less than a year. The hot wheels now are beutifull with a lot of details because when i was child the best ones(to play)where the majorette with his suspension. The Green Gasser its the best 2019 for me.
