  • Lyrics:
I don't wanna be the one to say I'm gonna miss ya.
    But I will, I will.
I don't wanna say I'm gonna cry my eyes out baby.
    But I will, I will.
I'm not ashamed for you to know how much I really love you so cos it was such a thrill.
And just remember when your gone they'll be that someone sad who loves you still
You will look at him and see me smiling back at you.
I know you will you will.
You will find yourself repeating things we used to do.
I just know you will, you will.
Don't wounded if you wanna come back just come running home to me and let me feel the thrill.
Cos I'm the one that told you I would love you here forever and I will, I will.
    Music
    {I will} I will
    Music
    {I will} I will
wohohoh You will look at him and see me smiling back at you.
I know you will you will.
You will find yourself repeating things we used to do.
I just know you will, you will.
But don't wounded if you wanna come back just come running home to me and let me feel the thrill.
Cos I'm the one that told you I would love you here forever and I will, I will, I will, I will.

if you look the releases you will see Vic Dana American singer recorded his version
in 1962. Billy Fury recorded a different arrangement version in 1964 and Dean Martin recorded the same musical arrangement as Billy Fury in 1965 . So Billy's version was good enough for Dean to record a straight copy of it.
I like Dean and Billy so for a long time I tried to find out whose version came out first. Billy 1964 Dean 1965.
The first version was released by the songwriter Billy Glasser under the pseudonym Dick Lory Vic Dana version is noticeably different to Billy Fury, Dean martins version is the same as Billy Fury, but as Billy was an unknown in the US I figure Dean thought he could do a straight copy and nobody in the US would know

On this day in 1964 {May 1st} Billy Fury performed "I Will" on the British ITV network television program, 'Ready Steady Go!'....
At the time the song was in it's first week on the United Kingdom's Official Top 50 Singles chart at position #38, three weeks later it would peak at #14 {for 2 weeks} and it spent twelve weeks on the Top 50...
And on the same 'RSG!' show he also performed the record's B-side, "Nothin' Shakin' (But The Leaves On The Trees}"...
Between 1959 and 1983 the Liverpool native had thirty records on the U.K. Singles chart, eleven made the Top 10 with his biggest hit being "Jealousy"*, it peaked at #2* for one week in 1965...
He just missed having three more #2 records when three of his records peaked at #3; "Halfway To Paradise" {1961}, "Like I've Never Been Gone" {1963}, and "When Will You Say I Love You" {1963}...
Billy Fury, born Ronald Wycherley, passed away at the young age of 42 on January 28th, 1983 {heart attack}...
    May he R.I.P.
    * The week "Jealousy" was at #2, the #1 record for that week was "Kon-Tiki" by the Shadows...

    • @adrinathegreat3095
      @adrinathegreat3095 Před 4 lety +2

Jealousy was not his biggest hit, it was his highest chart position.
Halfway to paradise despite only making no.3, actually spent 3 months in the top 10 and 5 months on the top 50.
Thus halfway to paradise sold the most, chart ranking depends on many variables including competition at the time and how quickly it sells.

It is indeed Sean. I loved this song from 1962 (already a mid/late teenager myself) when the original version by Vic Dana was released in the USA In 1965 it was also released by PJ Proby but although a PJ fan it came a distant 3rd to the earlier to versions. I had the great privilege of seeing Billy 2 maybe 3 times in concert in England with Mary Wilde, Joe Brown and others of the era - Great days great music, great memories

Think you’re mistaken in claiming Bill Anderson had the original. It was actually by American Vic Dana and was followed by Skeeter Davis. Bill’s version was the 3rd, but as far as I know Bill Anderson never recorded the song. I think you may be mixing it up with Anderson’s song ‘Still ‘ which was a hit for Ken Dodd and Karl Denver.
