Breakdown is good, but you were wayyyyy off on your grappling comparisons. Volk got up everytime, and defended all the subs. Ultimately, I believe Islam has the potential to be the most skilled fighter in the ufc roster, even better than khabib was. But I think he lacks the world beater mentality. Very good take on volks path to victory, Point fighting is exactly what he did and it almost got him the win.
