Me toooooooo!! I haven't done any Pieces in like two weeks. . My artstation is a mess I just keep looking at it thinking I'm going to organize and work on some work but I'm like I'll do it later I'll do it later and later has come and gone many times I don't know what's going on
I get my dosage of seasonal blues every year around these months, it's the weird "hump" months where you realized half a year had gone (and no matter how hard i've worked i will always feel like I havent done as much as i should) but also no occasion thrill (halloween, christmas etc) to keep you looking forward to something. Not to mention we haven't been able to travel anywhere to recharge. Hope everyone can get through it! Christmas is only in three month~

As someone who cannot draw landscapes to save a life, it's super cool that it's absolutely your jam. They look SO GOOD. I especially love the first big one - the colors + textures are so inspiring to look at. Also, I'm not a fan of bugs but those oil pastel beetles that you drew? Amazing. The iridescent (?) look really comes through and dare I say the bugs look beautiful?? Anyway, hope your mood gets better this month

I am glad you called out the copycats. I was dumbfounded recently when watching an artist I've followed for years. I thought I was watching you as her mannerisms and talk sounded way too much like Leigh. :) I hope you stay inspired to continue the landscapes. You make them fun and cool! Oh ya, I love the hair!

this girl isnt too unique or original honestly lol there are so many vloggers before her and after her that are pretty much the same. as someone who does art, u sometimes get inspired or influenced by other artist which doesnt mean copying them. but to say this girl is original a major overstatement. most people arent original these days lol...

I used to struggle with this for my own art/fashion style growing up. Something my mom told me that has always stuck, “They can copy your style, but they can’t copy your creativity”. Glad to hear you’re branching out. It will still always keep you one step ahead and keep you unique.

I especially love this second montain yellowish painting! I’m sad so many people seem to be copying you and how much it (rightfully) affects you. I don’t understand how they cannot see the limits.. Thank for inspiring us by sharing your process, your motivation spikes, that traditional art is stil fun, that using bold or nonrealist colors is cool. I always got from you that I should just draw, regularly, and be less afraid of trying things (despite not being a one-style illustrator , I always catch myself shying away from experimenting even more because I’m afraid I’ll get bored of it before using it for professional projects x) ). ive seen a ton of these copycats on my feed, but don't let it cause you to think negatively about your art. when i see your work its very clear its yours, people can try but they will never have the genuine feeling of your work

Boundaries are so important, I've learned this the older I've gotten. Love your hair cut! I cut mine the other day, it's so liberating having short hair. Although I cut it a little too short in places, lol! But the thought of going to the hairdressers stresses me out, I've never liked going to hairdressers. Gosh I LOVE the big paintings. I always love your landscapes, any size, tbh. I adore how expressive and filled with thoughtful colours they are, and yet there’s so many beautiful details and a really wonderfully-composed picture there too.

Even I have noticed the amount of Leigh-esque accounts, it’s kind of crazy!! It’s sad that they are missing out their own journey really.

This! Yeah, it’s great they have an avenue to express themselves, and are being creative - but in being SO influenced by Leigh they’re missing out on *their* thing. Must be frustrating huh.
I hope you are doing well, Leigh. Your vlogs have inspired me to pursue art in a less critical way.. if that makes sense lol we are are own worst critics after all. Your fun-loving, caring nature has helped me understand that yes, being good artist takes work buuutt the process doesn’t alllways have to involve “work”.

I really thought i was being too particular because some of these people are seen as established artists too with quite a following??? Like how and why, its got leigh splattered all over it. There was an artist that seemed to copy your art in many many aspects, so I also noticed the copycat situation. I follow your art since 2019 and even tho we have brutal style differences, you are stil my biggest inspiration and I learned how do choose colorful palletes because of your art.
1) Your haircut suits you SO well omg!
2) Kudos for addressing the copycats (def have unfollowed at least one before because they were just too clearly a rip off of you) and I hope you keep your heart up about it! Your style is beautiful and not "just anyone" can do it. You have grown your craft to reflect you and you will keep doing that, and that's something to be proud of.

About the copy cat art accounts. I have also noticed them and thought it was real wierd about how many of them there are mimicking your art style. When ever I see them I think it's your art but then I see it's some other account. And unfortunately I think your art style has kinda become like a trend/aesthetic. And it's really sad that this is happening but I do think its happening bc ppl know that your style I guess is what sells? And those copy cats are just trying to make money instead if actually enjoying and growing in their artwork

I know this vid is a few months old, so I'm late to the party on saying this - but way to set boundaries Leigh! I can see how it would be simultaneously flattering and annoying to have so many copycats, however, I wish more people would "take after you" more in the way of your example of work ethic/consistent practice over a long period of time in order to discover your personal style :) every artist copies at first for the sake of learning, but that shouldn't last forever, much less be adopted as theirs. Love you!!!

I'm an older generation CZcamsr but much newer than you and already am experiencing the same and where at first it's ok, it does become discombobulating! They say, imitation is the biggest form of flattery but I absolutely disagree. So well done for calling them out! Oh, and can I please pet Toady... it's weird, but, I'm obsessed... xxx

I think this is so common when we’re starting out. I know I did it myself a couple times 🙈 When I first started painting in watercolors, I recreated a couple watercolor paintings I saw on Pinterest. I didn’t even think about it because I wasn’t planning on selling them. Now I usually paint from my own imagination/preferred color scheme or reference photos (my own, or license-free stock photos) We have to be conscious of not copying a photographers work, either. It’s natural to be influenced by trends. I’m personally trying to focus on creating rather than just being inspired by others. That’s when your journey truly begins and you will find your style as you practice more and more ❤️

In all honesty I'm not a fan of landscape paintings but you have such a cool style that they almost look abstract which I love! To anyone else that's reading this STOP stealing anyone's art!!!! It takes a lot of work and if you're an artist you should go with your own vibe. So STOP.

I'm glad you publicly called out the copiers in your video Leigh! I've also been seeing a TON of people just blatantly copying other's art style and elements and try to call it their own, all whilst profiting off of art that aren't actually theirs. I'm not sure how these people are consciously okay with the fact that they're using something that isn't theirs and labeling it as something they're proud of, and I wonder if they know how it impacts the original creators... Do you have any advice on what artists themselves can do to "protect" their work, and what viewers or supporters of your work (and other amazing artists' works!) can do to help to "protect" your work?
Honestly I don’t have any advice 😇 I haven’t found a great solution for coping or for stopping it
IN REALITY THAT IS WHAT ALL ARTISTS HAVE DONE SINCE THE BEGINNING OF TIME>....there is NOTHING wrong with it.....STUDY SOME ART HISTORY.......
