    • @AttawayAudio
      @AttawayAudio  Před rokem +1

      If you have an insert, you can use a cable and "half patch" it to hack a direct out. Just don't push in the cable all the way, or you'll break the signal and get nothing to FOH

    Dear Sir, I have an unclear point about 1/4 inch input jack connectors in mixing console. I want to know that whether we're can plug TS or TRS jacks? I need to clear out that these input are always mono????
    If the 1/4 inch input connectors are mono, how can we plug stereo jack( if we need to fix a keyboard how can we use one channel??? Or need to use 2 channels to get the stereo picture???) I haven't seen plenty stereo inputs in console in general.

    • @AttawayAudio
      @AttawayAudio  Před 4 lety

      Most 1/4" inputs on a console are mono, so if you want to use a stereo keyboard, you'll need to use two channels.

    • @AttawayAudio
      @AttawayAudio  Před 4 lety

      It’s likely that your console has enough headroom for your boosts on the EQ, but keep a close ear on it, and if you hear distortion, you can back down your preamp some.

    Hi
    What’s a good mic to use for ambient noise ?
    Can I use just a regular mic that singers use or does it have to be a condenser mic ?

    • @AttawayAudio
      @AttawayAudio  Před 5 lety

      Well any mic is better than no mic. So yeah, a SM57 or 58 is going to work fine for some ambiance and room feeling for in-ear monitors. If you're wanting to get a really specific crowd sound for a broadcast mix, shotgun mics are king, especially if you can get them up high pointed toward the middle of the crowd, so that they're not just picking up the 4 people in the front row directly in front of them. Does that answer your question?

    Hi i have a question, is it advisable to connect your small 12 channel mixer to a UPS? if so, what size UPS do you recommend? (VA).

    Thanks!!

    • @AttawayAudio
      @AttawayAudio  Před 4 lety +1

      I think a really nice power conditioner would be more beneficial than a UPS, unless your power browns out frequently. A UPS is really so you can save your work on a computer before shutting down, which doesn’t really happen on an analog console (the knobs stay RIGHT where you leave them when they power off suddenly 😂)

    • @AttawayAudio

    Great Video. So how do I connect an analog mixer (like yours) to a DAW like Logic Pro X??

    • @AttawayAudio
      @AttawayAudio  Před 4 lety +4

      You’d need an audio interface with line inputs for all the channels you want to record, and connect that to the direct output jack. If you don’t have a direct output, you can “hack” it by using the insert jack but not seating it all the way, so it doesn’t break the connection inside the console. It’s unbalanced, but it does work!

      @@AttawayAudio I'm looking into buying a new mixer with 16 channels. What's a good option? I need to be able to send signal to monitors and speakers as well. Currently I'm using an old Yamaha 12 channels but I'm not happy with it at all. I can't figure out how to setup the gains for this one. Also can you put together the mono channels to have a stereo sound. I just couldn't figure out how to do it. Or how to put 2 instruments on them but one on L and one on R. I can hear both of them on L only.

    • @AttawayAudio

      @@esingerean putting different instruments on a single stereo channel is tricky. For little analog mixers, I like the Yamaha ones that have the one-knob compressor built-in. Just make sure you get enough preamps for the number of inputs you need, not just the total number of channels, which usually includes line inputs.
