On the juke box. It was the B side to go your own way. Probably in a Papa Gino's Pizza joint or a Friendly's Ice Cream parlor

through watching abby's i don't like rumours i think? good song stellar stevie performance. greatest song not to make the cut for a prospective album ? john winston's don't let me down: no contest. justice for justin hayward's what am i doing here which was overlooked for the moody blues in search of the lost chord. looking in the wrong direction lads obvs.

I actually visited Silver Springs in 1977. That's where I learned my favourite Pink Floyd song, San Tropez. I jammed on it acapella for an hour waiting for my cousin in a reception room.
Silver Springs is one of my favourite Fleetwood Mac songs.

Mick’s drumming has what I call “The Mick Fleetwood touch”. He’s not the most powerful drummer but has a “touch” that seems to be perfect for whatever the song calls for.

Back in the mid 1980s, I discovered Stevie Nicks' solo albums. One evening a good friend of mine asked if I had any singles from Fleetwood Mac. I pulled out Go Your Own Way & he said "listen to the back side"...& it was incredible! It was pure witchy Stevie at her best IMHO! For years I felt it was a treasured secret among real Stevie fans in the days long before the Internet. 😁😁😁

I love that Silver Springs has gotten appreciated anew. I think Stevie will always have fans that really, really connect with her lyrics and moods and it will be a long time before her music stops popping up in one form or another. Lindsay is the "genius" but Stevie is like... an archetype or something. Bigger

Passion beats personal growth for witches and artists. I speak as a practitioner of both.

Got the 45 of Go Your Own Way and discovered it on the b-side and couldn't fathom a reason why it wasn't on the album. I saw the band on the Rumours tour and of course she didn't sing it. It would be decades before she did when I suspect a number of people thought it was a new song.
Love your channel. I can tell you're having fun.

i heard this song on rock radio in 1977 and loved it immediately. it played regularly and although i don't seek out such painful themes in music anymore, it is still thought of as highly as ensemble you're wearing in this video (which is the "silver springs" or at least the "storms" of your wardrobe).

My [ex] mother in law had a 4.1 boom box CD player with surround sound. She was playing Rumors, and I was in the adjoining room, so not in the acoustic sweet spot. I could HEAR the pain in that album that never came through on vinyl.

I heard this first on the CD reissue that I bought. I have that and the first pressing that I inherited which of course, doesn't have it on. It is a great song and I'm glad it's well known now.
I do think this resequencing is sidelining Christine's voice in the Rumours narrative somewhat. She was an integral part of the band and not just an add on to the Stevie/Lindsey drama.

A fair critique - we'll get a more of her soon though. She wrote some of the best tracks on the album, after all!

Silver Springs is one of my favorite pop/singer songwriter songs of all time. It may be a top 10 for me. It never gets old. Very beautiful and emotional. I don't know why I get verklempt when I hear it. The chords (as you pointed out) are so cool. I'm glad it was included on The Dance. That's when I first heard it and I was like, where is that on a studio album? It wasn't until later. Thank you for the breakdown and everything else!

I love this song so much! My local record store near the University of MD only had the Japanese single on 45 😂. I also bought the DVD Audio version of Rumors. This also included Silver Springs. I live about 15 miles away from that Silver Spring DC Beltway sign. Always preferred the recorded over the live version. It’s kind of sad that in the CD era, they could have fit the song on the album.
How about, greatest breakup albums? I would add, Behind the Eyes by Amy Grant. I would also add Blood on the Tracks by Dylan. Any other suggestions? Is this a poll question? 😂😂😂

I sometimes wonder what if Stevie had just joined Petty as a Heartbreaker and left FM to Lindsay and Christine ...would I have liked all of them even more than I already do? just a thought, tho probably unpopular one.

You know she's throwing a curse. I rehearse close to where my current ex lives, and I never forget that when I do this song (I'm facing her apartment).

good point in your video about the pain of the back story being sidestepped in order to produce a harmonious beautiful artistry. i adore the abandonment of any need for restraint in stevie's exquisite vocal but even though the passionate warning is you'll never forget me, i'm going to paraphrase last weeks song in saying maybe 'you think he needs you'. sometimes that is the most devastating thing to deal with and the admission that you are the one who isn't walking away. what is that doing for the break up board eh? eh? ( still think stevie will nick it and the, brilliant, piano correspondent is definitely looking for a raise).

Love your content! Keep up the good work! However, I really do recommend some acoustic sound treatment in the room you record in and buying a few decent microphones for audio capture! Love your stuff but i love listening to content while driving and doin chores. Better Audio=more ease of access! If you have any questions, I'm and audio engineer and can answer any questions I'd be happy to help!

If he was french, we would pronounce Ken's name very simply: ka-ya. Americans have a way of inventing new pronunciations of french words (see Des Moines or New Orleans) so I don't know how he chooses to pronounce Caillat in this case. I read Kayet (with a silent t) online but it doesn't make any sense 😅

How did this song never make Rumours?!? Think your petty and passion scores might indicate the reason it got a veto !!

  • @buzzawuzza3743
    @buzzawuzza3743 Před měsícem

Yer very cool but yer nuts. This song should get a ZERO for personal growth and maybe a four for songwriting. It's nowhere near as catchy as her other stuff. Getting a ten for passion is the easy one. What would be the point of any of it if she didn't belt it out? If Fleetwood Mac added Row Row Row Your Boat to the set she would sing it the same way. She has a dozen songs better than this one in my humble opinion and they are much more worthy of your attention because they're not so whiny and petty.
