    The first issue I found on the Z3 block on our 8th gen, is the casting of thr block is weak. Coolant will seep through the block around the water pump area, once that happens the block is done! Second thr transmission is limited around 320 trq.

    Hey my brother, do you have any opinions on the reliability/longevity of those rotrex blowers on the kraftwerks kits? I really want to get my fg2 blown but my mileage is at 210k miles so I'm kind of torn between a rebuild first or going straight to boost because the car is VERY well maintained and I have no compression or ring burning/oil usage issues but still that's high miles and I'm just nervous I'll boost the car and it won't last until I have the money for the motor rebuild.
    What do you think my friend?
    The entire car has been replaced part by part the only thing that hasn't been cracked is the head and block itself. Suspension system, brake system, cooling system, clutch system, accessory drive system, axles, timing system [DC Tchain and Tensioner] new VTC actuator, new rebuilt synchrotech transmission, EVERYTHING is replaced. Valves have been lashed every 50k miles, RP synthetic every 2500 miles, and AFRs have always been on point for the life of the vehicle no lean or rich issues with FBO and Flashpro.
    Thoughts?

    • @FrancisD
      @FrancisD  Před rokem +1

      I personally don't know too much about the kraftwerks kit, but in any case.. If your going to boost at that mileage.. I'd do a compression test and leak down test and see what those results give you.. If everything is healthy and good which it seems like you won't have issues due to the maintenance you give it, then I'd go ahead and boost it. I know of quite a few S2000s with over 200k miles and are boosted making 4-500whp. But if you want a better answer as far as the kraftwerks kit, I'd go ahead and go to Josh be Spoolin(YT channel) and see what he says about that, I know he was Supercharged and now is NA so his opinion might help you.

    They don't die like really. I had a fg2 that had 2 owners with 24k on it amd 10 years old. I loved the thing. But Honda s can die esp the transmissions. I habe seen it plenty times. I had a 97 saturm sl2 or to of them. Put 80k on both redlining everyday and multiple times a day. I never blew either one and had barley any probs. They are the american Hondas. Even would beat ek si and jeard many others to doing it. But theres cars like those cars. Really cheap to wotk on and reliable. But to say they can't die is preposterous.

      Well it depends. Go fast mods are not worth it on the r18. They don't respond well to basic bolt ons or forced induction the way the k20 does. Some odd number of r18's won ride of the month on 8thcivic and none of them were fast and they knew it themselves. They were beautifully done aesthetically, but leave modification to the k20 when its about speed.

      @@aaronaragones6083 No hate, but other versions are junk when discussing the performance aspect. Single cam, thin rods, weak oil pump, restrictive head, 140hp and low rpm limit are all reasons why the r18 isn't worthy of performance modifications. Now, when it comes to economy, the r18 definitely takes the W. The k20 is just miles and miles ahead.
