Art of Ridley
Do the Art of Villager next pls he is so underrated and he needs more attention in this game.
Art of bowser please. Not alot of people teach about him so I mainly just watch leon clips
can you do the art of young link please?
Thanks for covering Chrom. Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing "an art of Cloud" guide, but I'll enjoy whatever content you make regardless of whether that video is eventually made or not, so don't worry about it.
Chrom is basically:
"I am a genius"
*ends up offstage*
"Oh no!"
âSorry!â
Chrom never thinks of himself as a genius, this makes no sense
@@corralzin4909 It was joke and this guy probably never played Fire Emblem awakening
Chrom has an amazing advantage, but terrible disadvantage.
I guess this means playing him...
*Is a double edged sword*
AAAEEEHHHH I see what you did there
I stole this for my comment, but I used it better so thatâs ok.
Brian Geer nah
@@briangeer1024 nah
Guess he's just better DK
As a former Chrom main this is a really good video. A couple of things I feel youâre missing:
1) down throw is a really good combo tool that can lead into a lot of juggles, especially at low-mid percents
2) down tilt at max range canât be shield grabbed by most of the cast
3) slide cancel f-tilt is a really good burst option for Chrom mains since itâs less laggy than dash attack; also good for tech chases
4) when recovering right below ledge you can double jump and then air dodge up to recover since Chrom has really good aerial drift; practice spacing it though
5) if you buffer SH Fair going forward, you can double jump going backwards before landing since Fair has really low end lag.
6) if you know your opponent is going to air dodge IN after using Side-B, you can hit them with the first two slashes, wait for the air dodge, and then punish them for pushing buttons
7) Side-B going up, most consistent. Side-B going out has the most knock back (least consistent, sometimes kills). Side-B going down has the most damage output.
I love the video, this definitely has a lot work put into it. Had this come out a year ago, I would be a better swordsman. Keep up the good work.
Down tilt at any range cannot be shield grabbed as it is -5 and the best shieldgrab is 10 frames. You just need to either spotdodge or dash back after it and it's impossible to grab
Fidel Zea Quality comment, if you dont mind me asking; why did you switch from Chrom and who do you main now?
Dep Ice Cream purely because of his disadvantage state. Donât get me wrong Chrom bullies the whole cast when heâs on stage but itâs not worth the fear of going off stage. There was a moment specifically where one of friends was playing Incineroar and he kept revenging my Up-B and I finally thought this character isnât worth all trouble. I went from playing Chrom/Roy as my main/secondary to ZSS/Roy. She has a better overall kit and Marss is one of my favorite competitors.
Not quite sure how Chrom's Side B works, but the down variation of the third swing does less knockback for Marth/Lucina, so characters are less likely to fall out of the fourth hit. Otherwise, same thought-process applies if you think they'll fall out early: punish what they do afterwards, usually get's you a grab if they shield, an Fsmash if they airdodge-in, or a juggle/edgeguard if they jump.
@@fidzschool2941 after incin revenge just air dodge to ledge lul
17:45 Izaw calling me trash was more intimidating than I could have expected
Haha
âMake one mistake and it could cost you a whole stonk.â
0:14 This dude is so dedicated to his Smash Ultimate sessions he was doing them 3 years before the game came out đȘđ»
MegaConrad I did sessions for Smash 4 :)
IzawSmash Haha I know I was just jokin around :D
Lol
âThe key to the character without sour spots is consistencyâ
lmao
is this the âstole it for my commentâ or is there another i need to find?
Ok... let me give it a try. *Proceeds to spam aerials*
Oracio Loins I mean imo chrom has the best fair in the game. Itâs fast it combos it kills it does your laundry ... wait
MZ Is Fake
Bowser would like to speak with you
Brian Geer chromâs is quicker and combos better so imo chromâs is better
17:45 thank you so much for making this point. A lot of players have a really poor attitude about getting killed by âjankâ when their own ignorance of the game is truly at fault. Thereâs always something we can do better.
On the other hand, I think calling it jank remains apt because I don't believe Ike's Aether does the same kind of dragging down opponents on the ledge just because they stuck a limb out. For some reason, despite Soaring Slash being obviously based on Aether, the two attacks have very different hitboxes.
@@HarvestMasterJack It's based off of Aether conceptually, but they function notably differently. Chrom's is faster, doesn't throw his sword, does more damage, and spikes harder. Different hitboxes are to be expected.
That being said, it acts consistently; if your body box is off ledge at all when caught by it, you get flushed. I wouldn't call it jank.
@@Legendary0Hero My whole point is that I've never seen the identical portion, the spin followed by the spike, drag an on-stage opponent off and into the blast zone when it's Ike doing it. It appears as if Aether keeps the opponent's body in front of Ike and on-stage whereas Soaring Slash has a tendency to suck an opponent into the position below Chrom. That is very peculiar for two moves that are designed the same way, especially since it looks like both moves are supposed to use an autolink angle for the spin hits.
The descending spikes also have different hitboxes between of the two of them, with Chrom's being significantly larger, extending past Falchion's actual blade by twice as much. That's incredibly odd, in my book.
@@Legendary0Hero consistency doesnt mean not jank.
@@intensellylit4100 Then what is uour definition of "jank"?
My play-style is aggressive and applying pressure, Chrom is perfect for that.
Thank you for teaching me to spam aerials.
I mean to be fair, he isnât really good without them
@@grandmapork6630 *to be "fair"
I would really like to see an Art of Greninja.

Donât forget down tilt
Donât forget up air and up smash

Thanks so much for making this. Love the background music choice.
Ultimate Frame Data is a great resource you discussed, perhaps you should add it in the description.
Great video, your work is much appreciated as these type of videos are essential for learning a specific character. >:)
Or type it into your url. Takes like 1 more second than clicking a link...
Chrom: Outta my WAY!
IzAw: End him
Ooooh Ive been waiting on this one! So happy to see this in my feed.
Thank you! I've mained Chrom since the game came out, and there's still things I didn't know here. Great video!
7:00
Brutal... I mean, really really brutal. I learned that combo, used it against my friends and now they don't want to play smash with me anymore lol
Can you really blame them?
I love this series. Can't wait to see more of these!!1
Been waiting for this one. Thank you very much for this very informative video. Canât wait to use him along with Shulk.
I remember taking three sessions with you when you charged 25 but I gave you 35 cause you're so awesome & helpful! I definitely improved & made top 8 at my locals! Highly recommend people do lessons with you! Thanks for this awesome Chrom guide too!!
Cheers :D !
After izaw explained how to edge guard him chrom dropped two tiers since everyone will punish him properly now xD
Facts. I knew about the counter jank but I didnt think any move beats it
That may be true. BUT, a good Chrom player will do his/her best to stay offstage. And even if you do get him in that position, if heâs good at switching up his recovery, you may not know what the heck heâs going to do.
Cloudu JustRight iâm sad all the online fools are going to edgeguard me now which makes playing him so much less fun cuz i have to think offstage
Bassman Dan no, as a chrom player i can tell you that literally any char can mess you up offstage if you know what youâre doing
@@bassmandan9484 This. Chrom does have more mixups than what Izaw went into in the video. He can catch offstage attempts with Fairs (since they end so quickly, throwing them out doesnt interfere with his recovery), and he can mixup high/low Soaring Slashes/air dodges.
It's still definitely a weak point of Chrom, no doubt, but it's a risky gambit to edge guard him, as choosing the wrong option can get you killed, even outside of Soaring Slash spikes. Getting caught in the spinning when chrom grabs ledge will reset neutral due to the knockback, and Chrom hanging from ledge has access to some of his strongest combos (Fair->Uair->etc.. off ledge). You can see an example in this video where Lavish kills a Wolf at 0% for edgeguarding him incorrectly.
I liken Chrom's recovery to Fox's from Melee-- each of his mixups has a correct response to it, but you have to choose the right one, there's not a single answer thatll work.
I have been waiting for this chrom video for soooooooooo long. Your miles beyond any other guides.
Loving the guides so far! I would absolutely love to see an Art of Pichu! I used to main inkling, but after picking up Pichu my playstyle has changed to the point that inkling isn't nearly the Ace up my sleeve that it once was.
Thanks for the video! Will consider purchasing a lesson. Also, really looking forward to watching an art of samus/ D samus.
New Art of M2 đ
My main since Melee
Keep up the great work!!!
I will again attest for IzAw and his sessions. They really do make a difference and I highly recommend them. I literally went from not knowing what a buffered aerial was to PR'd in my region in 6 months due to his guidance and expertise.
Keep at it :D !
Chrom busted. This isnât even fair lmao. You donât need more help Gummy
thehuffpuff10 was it a single session or was it consistent guidance?
@@fidzschool2941 Consistent Guidance.
@@thehuffpuff10 and about how much money did that cost grand total?
Great guide as always! Now Iâm waiting on the Art of Young Link
Thanks for these guides as always! Chrom is a great addition to the roster imo, it's always good to have the parallel consistent sword hitbox for Roy just like Marth has Lucina, the result is really fun character to play as and easy to pick up, although his recovery can be frustrating at times.
P.d: I miss his old Soaring Slash spike, i know it was kinda bs but it was fun cheesing hard Spirit fights.
this is by far the best character guide i have ever seen!
Wow, this makes me want to pick Chrom back up. I mained him since launch and only dropped him back in November/December for Terry. I just got bored of him and I just now realize that I wasn't really using him optimally at all, I was just spamming nair, fair, and f-tilt and rarely tried juggling. But I guess it's a good thing that I dropped him cause since Terry dropped I have become much better at the game and less button mashy and actually try to do combos, I'll have to practice him again cause this video made him look so fun again.
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR SO LONG
Kenneth Martinez me too!
I think it's funny how you uploaded a guide to Chrom just as I was considering dropping him, because I thought he was kind of boring. My suggestion for the next guide would be either Captain Falcon, any of the Mii fighters, Rosaluma and Little Mac.
Love these!
Entertaining and informative as ever
I donât main this character but this is still so interesting, will you make an updated âart of Jokerâ vid since heâs changed a lot in the new patch?
this is really good, good shit izaw
this was what i needed
If you condition them on ledge with down tilt to stay down for a bit longer, you could ledge trump back air. Something I have used quite a bit recently.
As a day 1 Chrom main, Iâm so happy that you finally came out with this đđđđđ
Lmao talk about timing this morning i was trying to learn chrom. Thanks
Also neat Gummy was featured in the session part of the vid.
this is the most satisfying smash video ever made
Thank you so much for pushing this!
Thanks for the guide Izaw
This is beatiful! :D thanks a looot!!
The first 3/4 of the video were just reminders on why I picked up this character and fell in love with his playstyle. And the rest of the video was a reminder on why I should probably look forward maining someone else.
Super helpful, thanks
How did you know I wanted this video
Sorry,

At 0%,
Down throw to fair into Up-B is an easy 45-51%.
Your videos have been so helpful to me thank you for the high level content Iâm a palutena main would love to see Art of Palutena!
this is my favorite video from you so far
but i still dont plan on playing him lol
keep it up!
Perfect for my quarantine. Oh and Rivers streams
Thank you izaw for keeping your word
Love these videos good work. Would love to see one of these on some low tier characters like k rool.
This video was really good and really helped me better my chrom...
thank you (chrom kind of broken ngl)
If you don't know what the background music is at the first few minutes, the song is the instrumental version of Wake up,Get up,Get out there from Persona 5.
around 17:20 when you talk about recovery mix ups i think you could have gotten in more detail about Chrom recovery mix ups. Utilizing ledge snapping can let you slightly microspace Chromâs up B to make the move harder to intercept.
I blacked out to mastering Chrom and watching this. Thanks for a good night.
ëë¶ì ë§ìŽ ë°°ìê°ëë€.
Thank you for uploading this video!
Holy shit. The whole sequence at 12:40 is amazing
Was hoping you could make Art of Chrom video since there's Art of Roy. At last, i'm cryinggg đ
I really like Chrom and Roy in this game I just really need to get better at hitting jab--->back air consistently. I like your suggestion of using the trigger for jump cause I usually try to claw so i can hit the c stick in time but it always feels awkward. Thanks for the tips, great vid!
*uncontrollable excited screeching*
Thank you!!
I feel like you missed one more thing Chrom can do for ledge trapping. You can also dash back and forth between roll distance, run up nair and drift back to roll distance. Leo did this when he was playing Chrom in Mexico and seemed to work *too* well. And because of Chromâs speed he can cover all options doing this.
7:00 that was sooo sickđ€§
Best videos out there
13:17 it depends on the meteor blast zone of the stage. Thats the reason why chrom can die second. If you want to test this, the meteor blast zone on the Training Stage is very high. You can even see characters die on screen.
Next one, King Dedede please, love the video even tho I don't play Chrom
13:25 Sometimes your opponent will fall out of the 4th hit of regular side b. So do something kinda like the leoblade in smash 4, but instead do:
Side Up Up Side
or
Side Side Up Side
it'll connect a lot more often
Make an Art of ZSS! Keep up the great work!
YES I need this
watch strawbs orio's videos on zss. They are really well made and in depth
Drago 1 I have seen Orioâs ZSS videos but I would nonetheless like to see one from IzawSmash
Fair enough so would I to be honest. I love izaws art of vids
If one day ... you ever release "the art of Pokemon Trainer" ... oh my... !
Art of each Pokemon would be more his style than all 3 in one vid
@@jebstuart3162 Yes I totally agree with you
Great video!
Congrats on publishing the only video that explains why sometimes Chrom dies first XD
Thank you so much
Art of Marth 4.0
Short hop forward air is not always punishable on a jump in, because you can jump again before landing. This gives you mix up options like airdodge or another airial to combat their punish attempt since you will only be in a slight frame disadvantage.
EagleFall31 untrue, all characters can use an aerial, upsmash or up b to punish it out of shield before the double jump comes out if you react fast enough
@@IzAw what im trying to say is that it can be a good mix up if your opponent is expecting you to land in front of their shield. It takes some conditioning to actually use this set up, but you can use it to get forward air cross up into back air to secure a kill for example. I know that it is punishable because like I mentioned you are in a slight frame disadvantage, but the ability to jump before you land does create a good opportunity for mix ups. I really enjoyed this video by the way, I just wanted to input some more information towards that particular set up.
EagleFall31 sure yea, itâll be a good mix up from time to time, but itâs always punishable if the opponent is on point (which is unlikely)
This is a good video on how to play Smash in general.
I couldnât understand the concept of plus and minus frames on shield until now.
Now I know not to punish a move thatâs -4 with an aerial, since jump squat is 3 frames. đ
No one has a frame one aerial...
The day has come
Art of Pokemon trainer would be nice.

I would love an art of peach, your videos are great

This videeo more than a tutorial for future Chrom mains it's a grave for current Chrom mains

Marth players talking about Dancing Blade: Hour long video explaining how to land finishers correctly

I'd love to see a Art of Shulk
Are you ever going to post the sessions on CZcams like you did for smash 4
They are all on Twitch
So Jab Bair is:
1. Control stick toward and c-stick away at the same time --> jump? (do the control stick and c-stick MUST be imputed at the same time? Or is there a specific timing that will still work?)
And
2. Control stick toward --> Control stick away --> jump --> c-stick away ?
Art of samus dude
Hey Izaw, could you do a art of Zero Suit Samus please? Sheâs a character I really wanna play but she doesnât really click easily for me or a lot of players either
I never lose when i fight Chrom because it's *VERY EASY* to counter his Up B
Chrom's last words: "How about this..."
Cristeve the the Chroms you play are VERY bad, because unless youâre Arsene, Chrom can space up b to avoid every single counter in the game. Please do not spread misinfo.
@@ldragodestroy4 I main Peach!
I mean, countering his Up B while he's recovering is stupidly easy, that spacing thing doesn't even work against Peach's Neutral B
(My english is bad LOL)
If you main Chrom and you were offended by what I said, it's not my problem
Cristeve itâs not that heâs offended heâs just right lol. You can space up b around all counter except joker
