Filming yourself is so good for getting rid of "bad habits".
Granted, I'm far from a great drummer - but it's so nice!!
So true!
Filming myself is something my dad already taught me to do, and it helps me create my best videos on drums!
Great advice, CJ., and coming from someone that demonstrates wonderful ability, it means so very much.❤️🙏👏❤️🙏👏❤️
This is such great advice, CJ. I've never heard of the mirror thing, but it kinda makes sense when you explain it.
Thanks, buddy!
I'm currently trying to make my practice more like an exercise routine....a day for legs...hands, etc. I take rest days and also my cheat day is playing songs without any restrictions, just for fun. It's nice and healthy when you're about to reach the fifth decade 😂
Hmm... it is me again! I love your advice, though the only two I have followed (and still do), are playing along and using a practice pad. I have used all kinds of stuff, from the mouse mat to pro stuff. I have also given away quite many practice pads and drumsticks. The only thing I would like to add, is to practice that drumroll. Every day. Start slow, go up to your maximum speed, slow down until you have control again, and keep on going from slow to the fastest you can. Push yourself, go "out of control", then slow down. I know, it IS boring, but it will strengthen your drumming in so many ways. I have got this advice from every drumteacher and pro drummer that I have met. To all of you: Keep on rocking! :)
And an advice to complete beginners: practice playing 16th notes. How you practice is not really important, but if you master 16th notes, it is the key to sooooo much fun! You can then add accents and go disco, pop, latin, rock´n roll and much else.
I like! I'm still looking forward to the asmr drums.
Great video C.J. ! I noticed a bunch of little awkward things about my drumming when I filmed myself, and it’s a great way to work in correcting bad posture etc like you mentioned! Also playing along to songs is the most fun of course ! Now I gotta create a practice pad routine lol
After watching ur videos i do my practice on my practice pad thank you sir
Keep it up, buddy! ✊🔥
Love from india ❤️❤️
Great tips, man!! I'm gonna buy me a mirror!
Haha do it!
Just make sure it’s big enough so you can at least see the upper half of your body consistently 👍
The practice pad is what developes my hands
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it, Jeffrey! 😃
👍🏻 Nice
Thank you! Cheers!
Me and my OCD are going to send you a 14" black suede head for that floor tom...
Haha that’s kind of you! But I’ve already ordered one 😊
should i practice on a pad even if i could just play on my kit
Yes!
