- USS Nimitz (CVN-68) Return to San Diego from Deployment
Inbound:
USS Nimitz (CVN-68) is a supercarrier of the United States Navy, and the lead ship of her class. One of the largest warships in the world, she was laid down, launched, and commissioned as CVAN-68, "aircraft carrier, attack, nuclear powered", but she was later redesignated as CVN-68, "aircraft carrier, multi-mission, nuclear-powered", on 30 June 1975, as part of a fleet-wide realignment that year.

Y’all ignore the guy making the silly comments about the Nimitz. He is trying to get people stirred up. 🤦🏻♀️

How can I know when an aircraft carrier will departure or arrive in San Diego?
I live a few hours away and would like to go see it at last once
Welcome Home old Girl Still looking good and home sailors
Welcomeeeee !!!!
Bravo Zulu Shipmates!
I do not see the stars and stripes flying. Where should I be looking?
I'm guessing that since it is before 8AM they haven't put it up yet.
I'm no SM so it is a guess. At this point it would be up by the admiral's star.
They don't "shift colors" until the ship is moored, that part I know.
Isnt there an American flag on this ship?
I noticed that too,. Where is it?

@@stanstenson8168 Forgive my ignorance - what is "shifting colors"?
@@nancychace8619 It's when they move the flag from the main mast, (up high) to where that mast is on the fantail on the roundown, and the jack on the bow.
@@stanstenson8168 😮😀
Who are the throngs of people in civilian clothes on the inside?
Some of the family members were able to hitch a ride back from Hawai’i for a Tiger cruise, hence the civis.
@@marde5166 Ok. Honestly I don't now much about the inner workings, but I hope our military is focusing on being mission capable. Maybe it is completely possible to handle multiple objectives simultaneously: be mission ready, host family, be woke, etc. As a taxpayer, I'll admit I'm a bit concerned. Because if we find out we aren't mission ready, that may be a very catastrophic lesson.
I have Sailors on that ship. They are ready and focused, but this is the end of their deployment. It is time to have some fun, and as taxpayer, you should be gracious and know that they deserved this trip home with their families after busting butts since 12/3/2022. The ship replacing them is just as capable and ready to fight!
