    This video helped me diagnose and replace only the sensor as opposed to the stator. The sensor cost me $8 and about an hours worth of time. The stator was going to cost $125 or up to $200 dollars depending on where I purchased it. I liked and subscribed. Th al you again!

    What was the problem with the washer? Why would you suspect and test the sensor?

    • @suunraze
      @suunraze Před 2 dny +1

      A defective Hall Effect sensor will cause the inverter-direct-drive drum to be unable to sense position and therefore not rotate. Resulting error code is "LE." A new part costs around $12

    • @juslookin3
      @juslookin3 Před 2 dny

      @@suunraze Thanks. I think "LE" covers several, if not many, problems. What other electrical problems can cause the drum not to turn? My GE washer (which uses some LG parts) just gave the message, "Motor not rotating properly." I got an out-of-spec voltage from an inverter circuit to the stator, so I thought it was the inverter, but it turned out to be the Hall sensor. I had initially gotten good resistance readings from the Hall sensor (via the inverter), so I replaced the inverter. When the washer still didn't work, I tested resistance directly at the Hall sensor, and found one circuit bad. The manual didn't give an algorithm for the error message, so, being an inexperienced consumer who wanted to fix my washer, I didn't get the diagnosis for a while.

    The problem in this hallsensors is the small 680 ohm surface mounted resistors under the grey silicon. They are easy to measure if you have patience to remove the silicone. These resistors is two 680 ohm in parallell for each hallsensor. If you have a potentiometer you can solder it in parallell with the burnt reistors and calibrate it to 340ohm. That works 10 out of 10 times and is great if you dont have the sparepart.

      You got it! My board had those reading in megohms but I butchered it figuring it out. I got a replacement board from a scrapped washer and it also had 3 bad resistors. (A whole washer tossed for a few cents in parts what a shame.) I replaced the resistors and the washer motor is working normally. FYI the capacitors measure 120 nf in case someone butchers them removing the silicone.

    your video did help me diagnose a bad hall sensor, but why do you put red lead into the common, why not blue, where im from red is power or hot +, blue or black is common

      Resistances are independent of polarity.

    • @brainimplants
      @brainimplants Před rokem

      pin 1 is +12vdc, pin 2 GND, pin4 is hall b (end of board), pin 5 is hall a (middle of board). voltages on pin 4,5 are about 0.5v / 12v if you flip a magnet around them.

  • @suunraze

    What are the correct resistances between pin 1 and pins 2, 3, and 4? For a good sensor?

    • @felixtechnoaid2044
      @felixtechnoaid2044  Před 2 dny

      @suunraze value closer to 10k, but it depends on the ambient temperature.

    Can something cause the motor to cause resistance? Meaning if the power is off the drums spins freely and when the power is on immediately becomes hard to spin and creates resistance. Won't go in full spin cycle stuck on 12 mins! The motor doesn't have the sensor on it like in most videos!
