      @containternet9290 Před rokem +2

      Well, the fathers of tremolo picking is Quorthon and Euronymous within the black metal scene. Snorre came afterwads, learnt it from Euronymous and added some evilness in it.
      As for the low-fi production, it didn't start with Darkthrone and Burzum. Mayhem had already used it in 1986 on Pure Fucking Armageddon. Let's not forget Master's Hammer, Samael and of course, Bathory too.
      It's fair to say that before Mayhem's live shows in Norway and in Leipzig no one really knew what black metal was since death metal was the trend, then Euronymous declared war on death metal. This is a pivotal moment in the history of Norwegian metal, suddenly all Norwegian death metal bands turned into black metal bands according to Euronymous' own definition of black metal, the rest is history.

      You don’t have to act so cocky man, I may be a christian “and I listen to black metal” yes, but I also appreciate the fact that the bible says all music is good. What he does on guitar may not be good when it comes to “music theory” and don’t get me wrong that’s very important depending on your style of playing, but it’s a preference man. This is HIS style of playing, not yours. Not learning music theory can make you more creative and not so restricted too. I have learned music theory myself on guitar and it’s important to me because that’s the way I wanted to play. It’s just his style and you have your style. Just try and appreciate the way other ppl interpret music. That’s what music is about

      It's like training of shaman or monk, when you learn stuff like music- or color theory. You need to restric yourself in beginning, but then you start to see everything differently. In the end, there is no rules nor even quidelines. You are back at the starting point, but now your feelings translate directly into completely non-verbal language.

      Ehh I know music theory and I don’t necessarily have to use it. I just play what feels good and use the music theory to write down and explain to others what I wrote. It’s very useful when collaborating with other artists or even sometimes getting out of writers block. Also when I do something that I like I can articulate it in many forms because of my music theory knowledge. It doesn’t break your creativity if you learn it.

      Personally I use the Schecter C8 Hellraiser Hybrid, an eight string guitar, to play black metal, and other kinds of stuff. You can get some pretty gnarly sounds out of it. I like having the option of deep low end, along with high and bright stuff.

  • @575gtcFerrari
    @575gtcFerrari Před rokem

    Do you hold your pick with the "sharp/longer" pointed to your index finger to rest on? As in the longer pointed tip isn't the one contacting the string. Cuz I've never seen that, but kinda makes sense to me. That's dope if so.

    De Mysteriis is tuned between D# and E :)

    • @w.j.christophe8779
      @w.j.christophe8779 Před 4 lety

      Correct. And I believe Euronymous fucked around with E, D# and D depending on which demo and which live performance it was. Everything after Euronymous has varied a lot from E down to C#. So there really is no "Mayhem tuning". It makes it pretty interesting as a guitar player to sit there and try to figure the tunings out.

    • @siverttungen7124
      @siverttungen7124 Před 4 lety +1

      W.J. Christophe Yeah, i figured it out a while back, when i was playing some tracks from Mysteriis and had the song in background and it just didnt sound right. Especially on Freezing Moon on the «0-1-0-0-0-1» riff.

    • @w.j.christophe8779
      @w.j.christophe8779 Před 4 lety

      @@siverttungen7124 definitely... that riff would be the biggest indicator for sure. I actually like that tuning a lot... not super low but it has just enough pitch change to darken the mood of the riffs.
