    If they come out with a 15" screen, that would be even better for development!

      I am not a programmer but if I was, I would prefer a desktop set up (Mac mini 16GB) to work on programming applications.

      What I would LOVE is a 14-inch in the same size body, hence narrow bezels. I think that form factor might actually come relatively soon

    Is 256gb enough for a computer science student? Great video btw! Subscribed! Don’t stop making videos.

      @TechItEasy0  Před 3 lety +1

      Much appreciated! For me, 256 is more than enough because I have ~12 TB between my desktop and an external drive. If you don't have alternatives like that, I think it's still enough as long as you're mindful and don't need to store much photo/video

    once Apple ditches remaining intel based macs, then more comapanies optimise software for m1.

    Do you think the MBA in 8gb is enough for React Native and Solidity? Or should it be 16gb? Thanks!

    • @TechItEasy0
      @TechItEasy0  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah 8 GB should absolutely be enough (for basically any development workflow tbh). The main thing developers might want the top line models would be for running things like ML models

    Are you’re USB C ports tight? Just received my m1 macbook air and my ports are quite tight and it is hard to remove accessories with one hand, I have to close the lid and use both hand.
    I asked around and some people find them also tight, but others say they are quite fluide. Whats your experience?

    • @TechItEasy0
      @TechItEasy0  Před 3 lety +1

      My experience with the ports is the same as you, but I actually find this to be a good thing. It means the manufacturing tolerances are tight on the ports, but that does come at the expense of some ease getting devices in and out

    • @JEYMS
      @JEYMS Před 3 lety

      @@TechItEasy0 yes it seems it is a common thing. I guess I will take the good side of it which is that the accessories wont disconnect easily by accident!
      I think I will keep it to not go trough the struggle of a replacement and just get the same ports haha... since it’s like a month to get a new one according to apple customer service.
      Thanks for your input ! Really appreciate it.

    Hi! Great information and thank you very much for it. I have a question that I hope you can a answer...I’m planning to star studying programming this year, so I’m not completely sure of what kind of programs/webs/apps I plan to do in the future once I complete my studies, which takes about 2 and a half years (I plan to keep learning once I finish that course). But my question is, would I be able to program stuff for Mac/iOS as well as for windows/android with the m1 chips? Or do I absolutely need a bootcamp compatible MacBook so I can run Windows? My plan is to become a web developer or app developer or...i don’t really know, but I think you get my point....can I program everything in this machine? Specifically MacBook Air, since I’m on a budget.
    Thank you very much for taking your time to read this long comment 😅

      Thank you for your question, it prompted me to do some digging. Something I should have mentioned in the video is that I feel very safe having this as my laptop because I also have a desktop alternative with both Windows and Linux running on that.
      My guess is that you will be completely fine with almost every single project you encounter in your studies. The one exception I can think of is if you want to write a Windows native program, but that's an extremely rare undertaking and almost unheard of in degree programs. Even compiled languages like C++ can be compiled in terminal in x86 mode, so you can verify functionality if a project were to be used elsewhere. All dynamic/interpreted languages (such as Python) should and do work just fine.
      Also worth noting that you could always pick up a cheap used desktop/laptop for Linux/Windows if you later find you need them, and I would definitely miss my Linux machine.
      Hopefully that information was helpful!

      I would agree with Mr. Darius, 8GB should be absolutely enough for development. 16 would only be useful if gaming is a high priority.

    I have a 16 inch MacBook Pro right now but for travel it’s really too heavy do you think it’s a better idea for me to sell it but a iMac for home a MacBook Air on the go ?

      Overall, the portability factor of the M1 MacBook is a huge one. I would say as long as you don't mind spending the money, you'll definitely find it logistically better for you
