    Thom's observations are pretty on point although peaceful protesting is not the ultimate in a colonial society. As Frantz Fanon explains "colonialism is not a thinking machine, nor a body endowed with reasoning faculties. It is violence in its natural state, and it will only yield when confronted with greater violence." Disagree that "democratic capitalist system is one that works"...democracy is impossible in a capitalist system. For a real democracy workers have to be in power. Oppressed peoples of the US, African and indigenous peoples must take power.

      Greatly said, Kefira.

    • @jmasked5082
      @jmasked5082 Před 5 lety +3

      Democracy is the right to vote for your representatives. If the workers vote, they are demonstrating their power. So what do you mean the 'workers have to be in power' in capitalist democracy? You take away capitalism and private ownership and you have no individual incentives, productivity plummets and the individual 'worker' has less power than ever. There will inevitably be corruption and misappropriation of resources. In some ways, democracy was born out of capitalism. It was private surplus that gave the workers power. The capitalism we all have a problem is conglomerate and corporation based systems that are nations unto themselves and have no accountability. That is the real monster.

      They’re talking about corruption, cronyism and the international banks, who work under a model that doesn’t fit capitalism, with its privatized profits and socialized losses.
