Other than the solid core being a factor in durability, I also noticed that the less complicated shapes seemed to fair better aswell.
My guess is that sticky-outy bits and stuff get stressed and tear easier, and once it's teared, its over

As a die-hard metalhead, I must congratulate you on your excellent narration. Technique sounds poor though, gonna blow out your voice if you're not careful. 😉
Also, I know it was more for fun and less for science, but it seemed like impact location had a huge effect on cord decapitation. The match seemed to be decided according to how much meat was left on the end of each line at the site of impact (the "noodle juncture"), which affected the amount of noodleage (and, therefore, strain at the bend radius). I'm not sure though, just speaking as someone on the internet who watched the video one time.
I thought the idea destin sitting there and shouting would be hillarious. And then the footage of him screaming at the mic kicked in. I was dying!
I think we deserve a full video of just Destin recording the voiceover.
