Hi *CHIRS*!
Normal fish when they see each other: A new friend bloop bloop!
Betta fish when they see each other: *murder mode activate*
Except for the chill female bettas, they are cool with each other. 😂
@@SilverScaleMA sometimes, but they still can be adorable murderous little demons.
Funny story: My sister was away for a little while, so I took her betta fish for a week, and I decided to conduct an experiment. I put her betta’s tank next to my betta’s tank, and my betta fish FREAKED OUT. While her betta was just chillin’ there like “Yo wus’ up?” 😂

Wow 2o years old, means you took good care of it...

My first fish tank was a disaster and they lived for a year and a half
Max Watts Do to be fair most people are way too agro
Silly Story: I uset to always be scared that I would wake up to deas fish in my tank that I would clean it every week or so, apparently I had nothing to worry about since my water conditions were apparently perfect enough for my fish to breed.
I am now a father of 12.
haha! that's the greatest story ever, lol! Happy slightly belated father's day, then! Oh, and good luck, you'll need it!
Hey, that's great! But it doesn't just depend on them breeding...if they're Livebearers, they'll even breed in the worst of conditions. Just make sure to text your water with a Master Test Kit once weekly in small tanks (under 15 gallons) and once a month in mid to large tanks 😉
What fish kind do you have?
is there any chance they end up breeding with consanguines? would that be bad? idk much about fish so...
Yoh Same here. My guppies are STILL breeding
Guppies are the third most abused fish after betta and gold fish.
That reminds me to sort through my endler to stop them from breeding for now :)
I know that feeling on the endlers😂😭
I think I'd put plecos before guppies though. Poor things get starved from people's ignorance.
Pecos also go in small tanks
Probably the reason i would get as many bettas as i can and try to treat them well-
IM SORRY I DIDNT MEAN TO DISLIKE-
I'm guessing the fish in the cup died from ammonia build up since it was a small space with lots of fish and no filter
Ooo yay I got a heart
I think they most likely were in chlorinated water, these fish are sometimes in shipping bags for longer.
Guppies in a cup was already a dumbass idea
Ouch. You know its bad when they didn't even use a bowl for those guppies.

Chris: FILL YOUR TANK UP TO THE BRIM
me, buying more water whilst crying: forgive me for I have SINNED
Why do you need to buy water? Ya can't just use your tap water or it's saltwater fish or smt?
Disclaimer: I'm no fish guru, I hv no fish, I am just a very curious hitcher who's decided to stay and explore this new world.
My uncle raise fishes at home tho, he just uses tap water when he changes his tank's wa-wa. They all pretty healthy for the past year :/
@@anonymousme3571 Sometimes, people have tap water that is so deadly for fish that even the water conditioners cannot make the water safe. Usually ridiculously high levels of chloramines, chlorine or lead are culprit. Some places have water so toxic that HUMANS can't even use it!
@@kidwolf0015 Oooooh ok thks man, learn smt new everyday :)))
Australias tap water is literally embarrassing it is as bad as 3rd world country water were lucky we can have freshwater tanks
A 60-70 dollar RO/DI kit can provide water filtered at each level depending on where you disconnect the tube to run the water to your tank or holding bucket. I bought my kit on amazon for 59.99, it can produce water that just has sediment filtered from it using just the first filter tube and running an extension to a bucket, or go with 2 stages to filter particulates and contaminants through the carbon filter as well, to produce essentially bottled water, or I can use 3(the third is an ultra fine screen) to produce RO water, or all 4 to produce RO/DI water with a super low tds of 2-10, and if I run the same water through again with a pump, I can get it to near 0 tds. All of those options are available from 1 kit that can last around a year or for well over 1000 gallons, whichever comes first. Buying water, especially if you buy water for regular water changes too can really add up in cost, and ultimately will cost a lot more in the long run unless you are doing a no water changes biotope tank, then buying distilled water in jugs from the grocery store can possibly cost about the same or a little less, but it's hard not to easily rationalize the pricetag of a kit to filter the water yourself. Even as little as 25% water changes, in a 20 gallon tank weekly would cost 350-600 dollars per year at 1-2 dollars per gallon. This is before considering top-offs in warmer tanks due to evaporation, or emergency water changes due to fish illness. Even considering the cost of water from the tap, ranging from 2 cents to 38 cents per gallon depending on where you live, that's a cost savings of 188 dollars per year in the absolute worst case scenario, and if you only do distilled or RO/DI water top-offs without water changes you'll at least brake even and be able to save on fuel by avoiding unnecessary trips to the store. Do yourself a favor.
Bruh those guppies are flatter than my self esteem

I'm glad you pointed it out but yeah there is a difference between surviving and thriving. The whole point of fish keeping, at least for me, is to replicate the animals natural habitat and appreciate it for what it is.
The "idk wtf i'm doing" starter pack:
-they had a smol tank
-fishes died the next day
-they bought a whole cup of guppies for 5$

Me: Owns a betta in a 15 gallon fully planted rocks and sticks fish tank and feeds him blood works and other treats with a filter and heater. Fish: *dies*
That's a bit suspicious... where did you them from? What type of filter... and what wattage for the heater? What type of betta? Were the bloodworms frozen, freeze dried, or live? What temperature was the tank at? There's so many factors that can come into play. If you got him from any careless big pet store, you've probably already lost the battle.
Sometimes the ultra-fancy show line bettas have serious genetic problems as well. The healthiest betas typically are very-well bred "basic" bettas like standard palakats with great rearing practices and great care from the owner.
Lighting is important, water still needs checking for spikes, and dont over feed your fish, sounds like you were still trying really damn hard, just remember, do on avrage 5 months reaserch before getting any new pet, look into there habitat prefrences. The breeds, the diet, the risks and all

Places that need to be shut down-
Reptiles by Mack
Lasco, inc.
Sandfire Reptile
Reptile industries
Apex Reptiles
Sunpet
Barney's Pets
All these places are horrible to reptiles, and are simply mills. They are also the breeders for fish, amphibians, and everything with scales.
Some of these places also breed some of the small animals, but not all of them. Those come from local rescue groups, and are treated reasonably well. No pet store should be allowed to sell chinchillas, though, in my opinion, and ferrets are also a stretch. Chinchillas need at least 6 sq. feet of floor space, and at least 5 feet of vertical space, so they can jump and run. Pet stores simply can't provide them with enough space.
As far as treatment to the animals goes, it depends on the individual store, and the policies and regulations within the local area. Our PetSmart takes good care of the small animals, turtles, birds, and snakes, but amphibians and aquatic animals are not taken care of very well, but they do sometimes do temperature acclimations and do water changes frequently, but they do nothing else for them, other than that, and they way overfeed them so the bottoms are covered with fish food. Most of the freshwater shrimp and any other non-hardy species always die off quickly after arrival. Some bettas are taken care of better than others, some are in small tanks, alone, and others are in tiny 4-inch wide by two-inch tall cups where they honestly can't move at all, not an exaggeration, they don't have any space to move at all.
Some Pet Supplies Plus, PetSmart, and Petco's take horrible care of their animals, though. Sometimes the places are understaffed, with shelves covered in rat poop from the feral rats that get in and eat everything. Sometimes animals are carelessly thrown in together so there is breeding and fighting happening. Sometimes stores don't feed or clean cages out. Sometimes there are infestations of bugs, rats, and fungi. Sometimes the stores are littered with dead animals, sick animals, dying animals. I think all pet stores should be forced to take better care of their animals, and there should be more regulation and inspections, but all those reptile breeders mentioned above should undoubtedly be shut down.
You've heard of puppy mills, you might have heard of rabbit mills, but there are also reptile mills, and these are what ALL of those breeders listed above are. Please, let's get them shut down. And let's also get better regulation for pet stores.
Yes I agree! Down with Pet-breeding Mills!
I agree I read the whole thing this is sad how only 44 people like and there should be 100k likes this is a sad and true thang
Omg no kidding. I don’t have a decent local fish store, I’m stuck with petsmart. Last time I was there I had to notify a worker of a dead betta in one of the cups because I guess no one noticed this dead betta in yellow water... and all their shrimp were either dead, dying, or eating the other dead shrimp... it was bad. (They do adopt out cats from a nearby shelter though so I give them props for that)
Sunpet has been well known for being a animal mill and torture/death prison for every type of animal that they sell, since the mid 1990's. Yet despite endless petitions, they have been running just the same since 1970. Many people have gone undercover to show the truth, and it's always unbelievably sickening. There is zero medical treatment of any kind for any animal. No such thing. If an animal gets sick, they bash it to death with their bare hands "so they don't have to waste feed on them." The monsters that work there look like humans, but clearly, they're not. Unfortunately, Sunpet is a major distributor that stocks massive amounts of small animals like rodents, reptiles, and fish all over America.

@@nyangata7278 yeah, that is why I usually catch my bettas by hand, even the females always manage to tear themselves up in the net...
Silver Scale Productions I use a cup he mistakes it for a hide
I have 2 common goldfish my kid got as a treat for Halloween. The pet store gives out the feeder fish, I don’t know why. But a friend took him trick or treating so here we are! That was over a year ago. They share a 20gallon tank with 2 filters on it and I have to take them out by hand cause they are 6-7 inches long each and definitely don’t fit in my net anymore!
@Kayla Risko not if you do it correctly, as long as you have clean hands that have been rinsed with aquarium water and just a little bit of stress coat and for the bettas use a small water pool in the hands. It does take a lot of practice to do it correctly. For koi and goldfish I catch them in the net and if they are too big to not fold in the net when lifted I do the same thing to rinse my hands and carefully grasp them for the second it takes to move them. Most koi owners use hands to move their fish. As long as you prep your hands properly first it is a lot safer than a net. But yeah if you just try to grab them without rinsing and coating it can really mess up their slime coat.
The only people that disliked are LFS employees that sell Bettas in cups...

I once tried a sorority tank when a petco employee told me it was totally safe and easy because females weren't territorial like males.
It did not go well and I have never asked petco employees for information about fish ever again.
Don't do sorority tanks. It isn't worth the stress.
Well, it's certainly not for beginners... but plenty experts have ran them with few problems. I definitely don't think that employee should have encouraged a beginner! The problem is that so many physical, psychological, and social aspects have to be kept in mind. Also, not all female bettas have the same temperament... Some are WAY more mellow than others. Bright, intimidating colors typically aren't very helpful either... When done right, it can be great for the owner and the bettas. I'm far from experienced, but I know enough to avoid such a setup until I'm way more educated... Not that I plan on doing one any time soon. 😂
I've done sorority tanks before and they _can_ work, but it's really dependent on the individual fish. Some females are just as aggressive as the males, and others are chill. Definitely don't take advice from petshop employees though, they're there to make a profit not to help keep your fish alive.
You have to literally babysit the tank for hours and hours per day to see if any are consistently hostile or aggressive, and remove them immediately. If you just drop the fish in there and leave them alone for a few days you may come back and find a murder scene. To plan an aquarium for say... 10 female bettas to be in a sorority, is to setup and cycle 10 tanks for betta fish, and hope you don't have to use the other 9 XD That's my take at least. If you have several other tanks where you could safely add a female betta without worrying about the other inhabitants being bullied, or the Betta being bullied for that matter, like a tank full of diamond tetras or something big and hearty in significant numbers to dither any aggression, so that you have places to house aggressive females without needing more tanks, that's a bonus. So I would say it sort of is for more experienced fish-keepers because they'll likely have more options right out of the gate than a beginner, if things go badly.
To those saying it depends on the betta, yeah I highly agree. My first betta was very calm and very docile. She got along with many different types of fish and even grew rather large to where many people thought she was a male.
But the new females that the employee sold me (3 in total) 1 was calm, and 2 where bright red and very competitive and aggressive. They all seemed to get along fine for 2 days, then one day I came back and the blue small one was taken out. Then I found the 2 reds trying to take each other out. Had to separate them and we returned them. The large, first female stayed and was largely unharmed. She still got along with khuli loaches, mollies, and various other fish and was very uncaring about what her neighbors were.

You should check out Paul Cuforro (I don’t think that’s how you spell it) He does a lot of tiny fish tanks and doesn’t really seem to care about the health of the fish.
demons layer64 I’m saying that the person I’m talking about isn’t nice to fish
Relating to the first clip at the review my Oscar while we were on vacation jumped out of his tank and when our family friend went to check on them they thought our dog needed to go to the vet because there is this foot ball sized crap in the floor. Then they took a closer look and then they realized OH hay this is a fish.
Only time i've killed fish that badly was when I was 5, and my goldfish wasnt eating and my dumbass 5 year old self thought eating was important so I picked up the fish out of water and shoved the bread in its face.
Please remember y'all I was 5
I feel so bad for wanting to laugh but I'm just envisioning a small child smashing bread against a fishes mouth 😭
Watching your videos make me want to go on my local salegroups and look for fish to save. Admittedly I'm not the most knowledgeable but watching your videos and having the knowledge that I can look information up is giving me some comfort. Also my mom an my brother are into fish!
Me: sees (tiktok) in the title
Me: let me guess FISH ABUSE
had a fish bowl once when I was a kid (which was way back in the late 90s & early 2000s), woke up the next day to find the fish belly up.
the reason? my sister was so fond of feeding the fish that she went ninja one night and sneakily fed the fish and ended up spilling the entire can of food on the bowl. It fu**ing looked like one of those rainbow colored cereals but with water and a dead fish instead of milk and a free toy!
;-; Those poor koi. I don’t think people realize how large they get. Even goldfish can reach about a foot long.
the thumbnail is literally what happens when I'm trying to change some water. For real, my guppys are so damn interested in everything, when I put in a net or a glass to remove something, everyone gets in lol
Does your lizard secretly own you?
That tank with the gourami and betta, crazy. I keep sparkling gourami, I would never put a betta in with them.
Steve is cancelled for leaving Bucky
11:00 when you said this I looked up to my Betta fish tank and said live for 5 years. I had a mini heart attack when I saw a still blue thing at the bottom of the tank. Turns out it was a blue highlighter I left in front.
I’ve never liked captain America either, lame. Captain Canuck is where it’s at! 🇨🇦
We come for the fish info, but we stay for the super hero smack talk
The first tanks really pisses me off the people who put those fish in there deserve coronavirus and never recover from there or be put in a room where they cannot move at all with barely any air and food like if you agree
Chill, ignorance is not a crime. Refusing to research and believing everything the shopkeeper say probably is. Knowing what the fishes need and not providing it is the one that's worthy of your death sentence
Okay so when I was 8 or so my dad let me buy a red betta fish. He was a halfmoon. Back then I was REALLY stupid and very unknowledged about Bettas and tanks and stuff. Anyways, I kept him in a VERY VERY small tank (a .5 or 1 gallon tank) with no actual live plants and a pointy sharp plant with some white rocks.
He lived for 3.5 years-
Not 70k, we are at 70.3k, and, I think we can pass PewDiePie and T-series
12:09 who else noticed Captain America standing above the fish tank, sadly looking at his shield below?

when I was a kid I loved my nan's koi pond, it was absolutely giant (I was a kid so it was probably smaller than I'm remembering), and even then the kois still managed to jump out on firework night and during heavy thunderstorms, I can't imagine how shitty a life those poor kois in the tiny indoor pond are getting.
Tiktoker: I gotTeD fisH
*time for elimination* 😈
It should be I had fish
That koi pond appears to be more crowded than the cup of guppies.
First, love your videos and good luck with the giveaway everyone 🙂
11:20 my wild catfish can talk 😂 because when I say don't come near me they come neare my hand
Ok, who the f disliked this video??
@ Exactly. Along with betta fish fighter breeders who think that bettas are happiest when attacking each other...
If you put to many fish at once in a tank it will most likely disturb the waterquality, causing a poisonous spike. The tank needs to adjust to more fish.
The 5 dislikes are from all the karens
Just whhhhhyyyy Karen why?🤪
The hello kitty decoration is iconic
Who’s that one person who disliked why would you do that
It was really weird seeing that tank at 3:50 being used for fish because my family used to use a similar looking "tank" for transporting one of our small reptiles to the vet. It was kinda jarring to see it, like my first thought was is that even considered a fish tank.
