  • Down and ready in the infield? Not quite, says Harold Reynolds.
The former All-Star talks about why staying a bit more upright can give you more range.

It helps that he’s got a cannon and doesnt have to overthrow to get anyone out. He knows he has time to get the ball because he gets it to first so quick

Look how deep he is. Thats the caveat. Better not stand that tall if playing in trying to save a run.

These are great plays. Too bad you have to imagine what they look like. Common...don’t get lazy with your camera work. All networks. Please improve your camera angles you’ve been using since 1976. It’s 2020. It’s time to change.

What do you think is bad info here ? He’s exactly right there’s no reason to have your SS/2B hunched over they actually have to move to get balls corner infield sure you want them low and ready.

@@dchaney801 I agree no need to hunch over. A middle infielder should never make his first move with out the cross over !!!!! Once an infielder makes that open step movement with out the cross over your range goes down about 10% to 40% !!!!! let that sink in kid...Hope you have a great season.

lloyd beard crossing over on a backhand would be a bit difficult can you show me a video of someone doing that ?

@@dchaney801 Ok .. let me be clear.... if the ball is hit to your right you never ever ever lift your right foot up in the air only to put it right back in the same place.... Thats why we always CROSS OVER as our first movement ....Its all about SPEED .... the lazy first step will take so much time your range drops way down. Also the lazy first step will slow your body down effecting your range. Hope that helps you to understand the simple Point being made here....
