  • This precalculus video tutorial explains how to convert polar equations to rectangular equations. It contains plenty of examples and practice problems. In polar form, the equation contains the variables r and theta which is the radius and the angle of the vector. In rectangular form, coordinates are represented by x and y.

the problem around 15:00 can also done by dividing R by sin^2
    R sin^2 = 5 cos
    multiply both sides by R
    R^2 sin^2 = R 5cos
    Rsin * Rsin = R5cos
    y^2 = x
