Based on my almost exact experience he’ll have nightmares of it for YEARS it’s been 20yrs for me but at least once a year at least I will have the nightmare again even with 2yrs of counseling. Back then it was at least 4-6x a week

Poor guy looks like he hasn’t slept. You can tell he’s clearly not in a clear state of mind. I wouldn’t be either if I were in that situation. He looks so broken. Like he had just lost… everything. Poor guy is probably reliving those moments in his head over and over even as the interview went on. There’s no doubt in my mind that he did everything he could’ve done and he’s such an awesome friend. I hope he gets better and I hope his friend is at peace now.

We should cry with others, for others, not in self pity. This kid was fully justified in his display of emotion.We need to have balance between strength and emotion, but in the end, pull ourselves together despite the circumstances and keep on keeping on the best we can. I know it's hard, and I know it's controversial, but it's the truth. I guess what I'm getting at is that while us men aren't wrong for crying or showing emotion the same way as is acceptable for a woman, the strong ones will set themselves apart when faced with adversity. I wish the kid in the video the very best. I hope he comes out a better, stronger and more wise man for it.

Tragedy effects everyone differently. I feel like it's harmful to say that you will indefinitely get PTSD if you go through something traumatic, because it could make someone feel like what they're feeling or went through wasn't valid just because they weren't diagnosed with PTSD. But I understand what you meant.

I got a call at 11pm the night it happened from our mutual friend “ (name) shot himself in the head today” god that was so fucked to hear and you just feel immediately broken and shocked and scared. Just that trauma you feel, that emptiness, it is pure pain. Having that strong emotional bond that someone so heavily relies on getting ripped so quickly.
