The one constant of the Rocky franchise is truly “I got one more fight in me”
" one more round" 😏
Poor Adrian 😂
One step at a time, one punch at a time, one round at a time.
Don’t we all ? 😁🤣
@@NikkieTwixnot a lot of y’all
The actor who played Mick (the awesome Burgess Meredith) lived another 15 years after this movie was filmed. He died in ‘97, at the age of 90.
Grumpy Old Men!
@@d3l3tes00n And before Colin Ferrell, Robin Lord Taylor, or Danny DeVito played the character, Burgess Meredith was the original Oswald Cobblepot AKA The Penguin.
rest in peace
EYE OF THE TIGER was not made for the Karate Kid. It was made Specifically for Rocky III. Karate Kids' YOU'RE THE BEST AROUND by Joe Esposito was pitched for Rocky III but Stallone turned it down. Stallone edited the film and wanted Another One Bites The Dust by Queen. But Queen turned him down on using the song. Stallone heard Poor Man’s Son [the band’s first Top 40 hit, from 1981’s Premonition]. Keyboardist Jim Peterik said that Stallone contacted and left a voicemail about making a song for the movie. Stallone said that but it was Tony Scotti of the Scotti Brothers Label that suggested Stallone talk to Survivor and connected them. Stallone sent Survivor the trailer but Peterick wanted to see the entire movie so Stallone got approval from United Artists and sent them a copy of the work print on VHS. The work print he sent still had Another One Bites the Dust in it and he asked Stallone why didn't he just use it as it fit perfectly and Stallone told Peterick Queen turned him down. So Survivor Peterick and guitarist Frankie Sullivan watched the movie and Peterick said he locked on the line Eye of the Tiger and said that was the song's title. Eye of theTiger matches a lot to Another One Bites the Dust as that is what the the film was specifically edited to. Eye of the Tiger was specifically made for Rocky III 2 years before Karate Kid started even shooting. Since Karate Kid was directed by John Avildsen, who also directed Rocky 1, it is most likely he was talking to Stallone and even asking him for advice on how to shoot it as it was Stallone who came up with the way to shoot the fight in Rocky I and Stallone probably let him know about the song. When Rocky IV came around Stallone called Peterick up again telling him "I need your help again" and they wrote 2 songs for Rocky IV - The Sweetest Victory and Burning Heart.
That's exactly how it is, comma it was written for Rocky 3 and not for Karate Kid, period, it doesn't make any sense if the song came out in 1982 and then supposedly wasn't supposed to be used in Karate Kid until 1984, period, and I also don't understand how they can't google properly, comma that they can't even find the right answer, just a Wikipedia entry and that's it.
Interviewer : What's your prediction for the fight?
Clubber Lang : My prediction?
Interviewer : Yes, your prediction.

Clubber Lang : Pain.

What's the weatherman's prediction?

Appollo Creed and Rocky Balboa training...the bro relation there is a goal !! He is a great trainer and made Rocky complete, gave him more weapons to use in a fight !
The reason Rocky doesn't block much is because of his fighting style. He's a brawler, also known as a slugger. Sluggers basically brawl and trade punches with their opponent until they drop. Rocky has a strong chin, hard head, and he's a hard hitter. So rocky can take punishment and keep coming at ya. Because of this his defense and footwork isn't great. Apollo taught him how to be an out-boxer, someone who uses footwork to stay at distance and head movement. Pick your opponent off with the jab and use it to set up combinations. He basically used Apollo's own fighting style to beat Mr T for the second fight.
I met Mr T while he was jogging through downtown Chicago. He actually approached my family with a big smile. Signed autographs, just the nicest guy.
Micky trained him to be a brawler, an animal.
Apollo trained him to be an athlete, a boxer
then you combine both
And you realise nobody blocks because it’s entertaining… that’s how Sly wanted it.
That last freeze frame of Rock and Creed about to punch each other out always gives me chills. Such an amazing shot. 💪
Finally they are about to watch IV
The reaction to Hulk Hogan was amazing. 😂 Rocky 4 is also my favorite!
I like 3 and 4 evenly for me this is when series got great to many slow bits in 1 & 2.
Imagine that, your favorite Rocky movie happens to be the best one lol.
yeah if you forget that Hulk Hogan is a trash racist.
Rocky 3 & 2 my favs! Best Stories & Fights in the series! Especially Rematch Apollo & Rocky. Apollo Best Skilled Boxer in the series!
Mr T was made for this role. absolutely perfect casting on this one.
19:11 "Rocky, how did you beat him?" was too funny. It was just such a genuine question from Navi.
Eye of the tiger was written by Survivor guitarist Frankie Sullivan and keyboardist Jim Peterik, and it was recorded at the request of Sylvester Stallone, after Queen denied him permission to use "Another One Bites the Dust", the song Stallone intended as the Rocky III theme.
Rocky 3 came out in 1982, Karate kid doesn't come out until 2 years after in 1984. So this statement ("Eye of the Tiger" was originally made for the movie The Karate Kid, as the director of both Rocky and The Karate Kid, John G. Avildsen, planned to use the song for a fighting montage towards the end of the feature. Avildsen opted to use "You're the Best" by Joe Esposito for the montage instead.) is not true. I dont think it was written for Karate Kid since the song was written and recorded 2 years prior and was featured in Rocky 3 already.
This right here. I was thinking "what the hell are they talking about? Karate Kid came out a couple of years later"
Here's a link to the story of Eye Of The Tiger czcams.com/video/-TkiEUpbiKI/video.html
I think their confusion is that the Joe Esposito song "You're the Best" was the song originally written for the Rocky III opening. However, Stallone decided to use "Eye of the Tiger" instead since it was a phrase that Apollo Creed uses repeatedly on the script. The song had actually already been released as a single before the movie was released. The Esposito song was shelved and used later in The Karate Kid instead.
@@charlesmatthews7397 - According to Wikipedia:
". . . it was recorded at the request of Rocky III star, writer, and director Sylvester Stallone, . . ."
Avildsen did utilize the band Survivor to write "The Moment Of Truth" for Karate Kid
NEXT MOVIE: Rocky would forget all the dodging technique he learned from this movie..lol
The actor who played Micky was Burgess Meredith. He also played The penguin in Adam West Batman. And if ya guys ever watch the OG Twilight Zone, he was a regular on that show
He wasn't a regular on TZ, but he is tied with Jack Klugman in appearing in the most TZ episodes, four for each actor.
Where’s the credit for Adrian? I wish you guys focused more on the fact that Rocky and Adrian’s relationship is SO important to Rocky’s development through out the movies and how Adrian is the force behind Rocky’s confidence to do better and to be the best that he can be. Their love story is a big part of the franchise and a huge focal point for Rocky 6.
Because they’re idiots
This is my favorite of all the rocky movies and Clubber Lang is favorite character. Dude just raw. His dialogue in the movie was epic.
I always wished they would've done a spin-off with Clubber Lang the same that they did with Johnny in the Cobra Kai. His character is perfect for that.
Eye of the Tiger was written for this movie by Survivor. Stallone originally wanted Another One Bites the Dust by Queen... but couldn't get the rights. So he hired Survivor write a similar song. They asked to see a rough cut and Stallone reluctantly sent them a VHS roughcut... and they focused in on that line of dialogue
Micky trained Rocky to use his power. In the first two movies, Rocky fought like Marciano and Dempsey. He would use raw power to try and knock out his opponents. In Rocky Three his opponent was strong than him so he had to learn a new fighting style. Apollo Creed trained him to fight more like Ali and Floyd Mayweather. Rocky had to use both fighting styles to win.
Rocky 3 will always be my favorite movie of the franchise.
This is one of my favorite reactions so far guys! It blows my mind that y'all barley starting to watch these! Better late then never!
32:35 Rana did have a point about different trainers/camps having different syles and techniques of training, but all still falling under the umbrella of the fundamentals.
Rocky's strategy may have been based on a real fight...Are you guys familiar with the legendary "Rumble in the Jungle" - the 1974 championship fight between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman? Ali was older and facing a young, very strong Geroge Foreman. Ali employed what he later called the "rope-a-dope" technique where he leaned against the ropes and covered up for seven rounds while Foreman "punched himself out" trying to knock Ali out. At a point in the 8th round Ali suddenly went on the offensive, landing a series of punches and knocked an exhausted Foreman out.
"Eye of the Tiger" was NOT made for "The Karate Kid", it was made for "Rocky III" at Stallone's request. You guys got that answer from The Current, a bad bad source.
Mick trying to get Rocky to let it go parallels Apollo’s trainer having the same convo in the last movie
"Eye of the Tiger" was not made for The Karate Kid (come on now, that movie came out three years later!). It was the other way around - a song written for Rocky 3, which ultimately went unused in the final film, ended up being used in The Karate Kid instead.
Creed basically trained Rocky how to fight like a Black boxer, a style that was developed in the Americas over the pass two centuries. Rocky got power and a chin but he was too flat footed, if he fought a prime Apollo he would've lost badly.
@@hydepark1382 You call it plot armor, but it’s realistic. Apollo didn’t take the first fight seriously at all. He was king for too long. And he still won.
The second fight he was more serious but he completely abandoned his gameplan. He could’ve easily won on points, but he had a point to prove and was brawling with a brawler.
Look at what happened between Garcia and Davis. Garcia had a clear gameplan, abandoned it, and got put down early.
@@hydepark1382 All good points.
thats how they explained it in the movie but the difference was that Mick trained Rocky to be an in-fighter who plants his feet and stands in the pocket throwing bombs for the KO, Creed taught him how to be an out-fighter who is light on their feet and control the range of engagement. they are totally antithetical styles but both are legit methods.
@@KingstonHawke Agreed Rocky was a brawler and real hard hitting one at that considering that Creed basically wasn't trying in the first movie and in the 2nd he got wanted the fight WAY TOO bad enough to play the same game as Rocky "which was a really bad idea" he lost, factor in the fact that anything can happen in a fight regardless and I'd say it's completely possible but Rocky did know how to block, in his previous title defense matches he was the only thing holding that back was the simple fact that one he's partially blind in one eye and 2 it's a brawlers style to just swing not that they're not a valid style I'd consider myself one sometimes when I just start throwing irregular punches to get my friend down when we spar but most of the time I use the peekaboo style and be an aggressive in fighter only after Creed trained him to be more light on his feet as well as having great power punches and top notch durability at that did he start doing quite well with minimal damage done to himself
Yeah, as someone who followed boxing a little it's a bit frustrating to hear all the pointers given by people who clearly do not understand the history of boxing and the strategy behind it. Like the hands up thing, and how boxing is just fighting no different styles.
Micky taught Rocky how to get by on a fight to fight basis. Which is why the opponents needed to be handpicked. So Mick could strategize each match with Rock. Apollo taught Rocky overarching long term basics that he'd be able to fall back on no matter the opponent. Both approaches came into play in the end. Apollo's teachings got Rocky through the first couple rounds where Micky's approach was ineffective. But after that, Rock took Micky's more specialized approach to bring the fight home where Apollo's generalities wouldn't have worked anymore.
FUN FACT: The woman that kissed Rocky was Sylvester Stallone's first wife
Probably the best mix of fun & dramatic in the series

I love the reaction to Hulk Hogan
I was a HUGE Rocky fan, and when this came out, it was like the monster of the summer. Probably saw it in the theater 3 times. The ubiquitous theme song was played on the local radio station that the community pool used. They played it 2-3 times per hour, no exaggeration. If you were at the pool from 1 - 4, you heard Eye of the Tiger 7 or 8 times.
Adrian's Love... is Everything ❤
*True hilarious nostalgic memory of this film: When this movie came out, my uncle (father's brother) was visiting with his family from the Philippines (my Auntie's home country) so we all went to see it when it came out. Long story short, I instantly became a Clubber Lange fan while my cousin Bobo was a die-hard Rocky fan. . . let's just say we had a Rocky III alternate ending once we got home. 😂🤣We laugh and clown each other to this day about it!
This review was so much fun! You guys are hilarious. Mr. T is pure entertainment in this movie. So many quote-ables. New Subscriber.
I knew Pat would love Clubber Lang😂
A broken clock is right twice a day. Clubber Lang is a great character and deserved that first win. It sucks Mick had been dodging him for presumably years.
This movie was a proverbial cornucopia of pop-culture when it came out. It gave us “Eye of the Tiger” Mr. T, Hulk Hogan, Wrestlemania and the final chapter in the “Rocky” trilogy.
This has the best Fight Choreography out of all the ROCKY Movies
Eye of the tiger was specifically made for this. YOU'RE THE BEST from Karate kid was made for Rocky but put in karate kid because Stallone turned it down
My favorite scene:
"There is no tomorrow!"
FUN FACT: Burt Young (Paulie) is a former boxer
So was Duke, Tony "Duke" Evers
Bro y’all are hilarious 😂😂😂 not the freeze frame celebration laugh lol
No, Eye of the Tiger was made specifically for this movie. The band saw the movie and wrote it after watching it. They got the title of the song from Creed's line talking about the eye of the tiger. What you're referring to is the original song that was offered to Rocky 3 was Glory of Love which they turned down and it went to Karate Kid 2.
Rocky double drop! Thanks, guys!
:EDIT: The POP when Rocky demonstrates his ability to finally dodge. This reaction was so good, you guys!
Rocky did the same thing Apollo did in the first Rocky. He didn't train hard and he wasn't focused. This movie was really a mirror of the first two with the roles kind of switched. It was a good way to reflect on the first two films and have Rocky find his way back to who he originally was again. It certainly seems like it was written to close out the story in a lot of ways.
Burgess Meredith aka Mickey was also the Penguin in the 60s Batman….Also Stallone hired Mr T as the antagonist after watching him win The Toughest Man competition. Before this film made him a star, he was a Bouncer, and a celebrity Bodyguard
Eye of the Tiger was not written for Karate Kid. it was a song on Survivor's 3rd album, and Stallone asked if he could use it for the theme of Rocky 3 when Queen refused him permission to use Another One Bites the Dust. The single was released the day after Rocky 3 premiered. It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song.
Pat instinctively agreeing with the bad guy finally pays off in this movie.
Rocky had a training montage, got a power up and then aquired new drip! Anime pulled that from Rocky.
Clubber still to this day is my dude, what an absolute savage
What I love about “Rocky 3” is that we get to see how much of an incredible genius Apollo Creed was when it came to boxing.
Apollo Creed wasn’t as just some flashy, charismatic, freakishly gifted boxer, he was a fiercely driven, systematic, hard-working and intelligent competitor, and it showed by the way he trained Rocky.
If you notice, Rocky was just a “Philadelphia Slugger,” but didn’t have a lot of technical skills. Rocky didn’t have a jab, elite conditioning, sense of adjustment, foot work, head movement or defensive strategies... Apollo Creed came in and fixed all of that, and turned Rocky into a complete top level all-around boxer.
This reaction is gold, I love you guys!
fun fact #2 Mr. T took his mom to the premire and when the scene where he said what he said to adrian his mom got upset with him and said " Why did you say those things to her ??? I raised you better than that" and got up and was about to leave when T had to explain 2 her he was just acting
Was in Philly last fall. Visited this museum & seen the statue
Rocky 3 is an American classic. I’ve literally watched this movie over 200 x’s easily starting in ‘83 at 9yo 😂.
Burgess Meredith (Mickey) was *OLD* Hollywood, star of dozens of feature films before being cast in the Rocky films. The freeze-frame ending of Rocky III fading into the oil painting made by famous sports artist Leroy Neiman remains one of my top favourite film endings of all time. The early Rocky films give me an appreciation for Sylvester Stallone's writing skill & Carl Weathers' acting every time I rewatch them - I'm glad both actors found continued success following theses films. Carl has been brilliant in his acting & directing in The Mandalorian.
Rana, Slyvester Stallone is way underrated for his REAL acting. People think of Rambo(1) and Rocky as just action, when they are actually beautiful well rounded pieces of art and acting. Getting to the real human emotions we have and scars we carry. Watch at the very least First Blood.
"Eye of The Tiger " was made for Rocky III, I saw an interview with Survivor talking about it & watching a rough cut of the movie to develop the lyrics. This was after Queen turned them down. Love Queen but so thankful they did that.
Mickey trained Rocky to accentuate his strengths. Apollo trained Rocky to beat Clubber Lang . It's the difference between a boxer and a power puncher. But as always Rocky needs Adrian to be completely on board to have any chance. As soon as she buys in it's game on. The movie is truly about their love story.
A miracle how Rock's eye healed itself real quick-like 2/3rds into Rii :-)
I love all the Rocky movies but there are definitely specific scenes or quotes or speeches I think about and in this movie it’s every time Apollo mentions “the eye of the tiger” 🤣 and that bromance moment of them racing down the beach and then frolicking in the waves and cuddling with their little booty shorts 🤣 *chefs kiss*
Just saw the reaction to that scene and it was EVERYTHING! 🤣 “BESTFRIENDS! BRO HUG!”
Can Not Wait Til Rocky 4
The band Survivor was a local or regional group. One day, the lead singer got a call out of the blue from someone claiming to be Sylvester Stallone. Hed heard them somewhere and liked their sound. He let the band read the script to get ideas, and they grabbed the phrase Eye of the Tiger and wrote a song around it.
Pauly is one of the few characters who could annoy me with his bigotry but then have me laughing
Fun fact #3 Both Mr.T and carl weathers both played a few years in the nfl before they started acting
The song "you're the best" from The Karate Kid was meant for Rocky 3, but they went with Eye of the Tiger.
This movie has all sorts of stuff that we take for granted. Hulk Hogan basically got fired by Vince's McMahon's dad Vince for taking this part, and hadn't debuted in the AWA yet when he filmed this movie (he basically rode the publicity of this movie to his big run on top of the WWF after leaving the AWA in a few years). The first montage was done to "Another One Bites the Dust" but they couldn't secure the rights so Survivor was asked to write a song that fit that montage, and thus "Eye of the Tiger" was created, and now it's a classic (and I admit to playing it on Napster towards the end of the Super Bowl where the Eagles beat the Pats). This was the first "I pity the fool" ever from Mr. T and probably the only time he played the heel in his life. SO iconic.
"How did Rocky win?" One reason in all the movies, It's Adrian. That was the final motivation in them all.
Fun Fact: Rocky IV's story was supposed to be Rocky III. In Interview Magazine before Rocky IV came out Stallone stated it was the original story meant to finish off the Rocky Trilogy. Rocky was supposed to fight a Russian in the Roman Coliseum. However when he submitted it to the producers Winkler and Chartoff they turned it down saying the premise was stupid and told him to go back and write another story. Stallone had no idea so he looked back at what was going on in his own life, especially the charity for autism he was doing as his 2nd son Sergio was born with severe Autism and some of the screw up's he did after he became famous and based it on that. Originally Rocky III was supposed to be the last one which is why it ends the way it does. He was also going to have Rocky die at the end of Rocky III but the producers and studio shot that down quickly. When Rocky III was a hit (MGM even released it back into the theaters the summer of 1983 while it was on HBO and it still made money) MGM wanted another one right after III came out, due to political tensions at the time the producers then felt that the Rocky fighting a Russian was right for the 4th movie. Stallone also tried to kill Rocky off at the end of IV but the studio shot that down again.
I can't figure out which reaction is more annoying. Navi or Mickey. Navi's hypocritical response to the Rocky 2 & 3 trash talk. Or Mickey questioning Rocky's training knowing that Micky is the all-time best trainer/manager.
Interesting bits of trivia about this movie: not only was Hulk Hogan's appearance in this movie what launched his career as the WWF's top star, the boxing vs wrestling match was based off of an exhibition fight between Chuck Wepner (the real-life inspiration for Rocky) and Andre the Giant.
21:26 You guys are fucking dorks and I love it 😅
Eye of the Tiger is not in Karate Kid. It was specifically asked for by Stallone for this film.
“You’re gonna get in his head rock” that impression is hilarious
Wasn’t expecting a double drop this week, but hell yeah
The weird thing about the Rocky films is intelligence rises and falls with how much money he has.
Apollo and Rocky together is so amazing
Loved your reactions; especially during the fight with Rocky & Thunderlips.
This was the film that propelled Hulk Hogan and Mr. T to stardom. After the release of Rocky III, Mr. T hit it big with The A-Team TV show. Hogan was already a star on the pro-wrestling circuit in the late 70’s-early 80’s, but after Rocky III he got called back to the WWE (then known as WWF), where he won the World Heavyweight Championship from The Iron Sheik…giving birth to the phenomenon of HULKAMANIA. And then almost a year later, Hogan and Mr. T formed a tag team and competed in the very first WrestleMania @ Madison Square Garden in March of 1985.
Mr. T. was so good in this movie.
Seeing that you guys are also reacting to my next favorite Rocky movie in the entire Rocky series just weeks ago as well.
Mr. T Truly gives one of a kind performance very memorable one of the greatest antagonists of all time
You're the Best was originally gonna be the theme song but Stallone rejected it for Eye of the Tiger so they used it for Karate Kid.
I imagine Hogan coming to the set, being like "Yeah! I'm gonna be in a Rocky movie! Another great moment for Hulkamanya! I'm already a badass on TV, now I'm gonna be a badass in movies as well!" and Stalone telling him "ok, here's what's gonna happen. You're gonna be fighting me. And your name is: THUNDERLIPS!"
I remember my Dad taking me to this movie in 3rd grade. My dad loved 50s mus8c but Eye of the Tiger became his new favorite song.
I love the story of Creed training Rocky. Former sports rivals that become friends because of their respect for each other. A lesson that should never get old
"I heard about a third fight between you two, behind closed doors."
"How'd you hear about that?"
"Who won?"
"It's kind of a secret."
There was a MrT craze because of this movie. Lol. He was EVERYWHERE. I absolutely loved the Sat morning cartoon.
Happy they’re reacting to these 😭😭 making me go back to being a kid watching these.
21:10 If you think Sylvester Stallone was great in that same, you should see him in first blood. That final scene is quite possibly one of his best if not his best scene of all time.
My favorite movie of saga 😢...tanks ! Congrats from Brazil 🇧🇷 ! See your in Rocky 4 🥊🥊 !!!
9:34 the girls reaction to this was Priceless😂
"No, he' gettin' mad." Remember from the first movie when he got head-butted? He got mad and started whaling on Spider.
Mr T was a Mood…Clubber…and utilizing Appollos Style was Sweet
Excellent Post, Normies. Now I can't wait for Rocky IV. Great Post. And thgank you for sharing this with us.
MR T was in over 1,000 bar fights when he was a bouncer. he is one of the few action stars that can back it up
Rocky in the first two movies had the abilities of clubber lang with his own godlike durability. In 3 he's like apollo. In 4 he's all of them combined.
This and the original Rambo:First Blood in the same year, Sly was untouchable as an actor and filmmaker.
Mr.T was phenomenal as Clubber Lang, in his physical prime and talking that s***.
Rocky's character having heights and falls.
Losing his edge, the title and Mickey,. Gaining Apollo as an friend, ally and trainer.
The fights (written by Sly, him credited as boxing choreographer) are pretty good.
Rocky's 2nd fight with Clubber was a major step up.
This was the one film in the saga I had seen the least.
But I definitely think this was one of the best '3rd films' in a franchise.
Originally, this was planned as the final film in the series and i can't imagine that being possible.
In my head canon a few years before the first Rocky - Apollo fight Rocky was doing hus usual walk the neighborhood at night after leaving the gym and he happened across Gazzo who underestimated a guy he loaned money to and when he tried to collect the guy had some friends with him.
Rocky came along and, street fighter that he is, beat the guys attacking Gazzo and maybe even saved his life. Since then Gazzo has looked out for Rocky.
Seen this movie a million times, I remember when I lived in Phoenix as a teen in the 80's and it came on t.v. and I recorded it on VHS. watched it over and over and had the dialogue memorized. It drove my sisters nuts trying to watch this with me. Also, when Mick dies it still gets to me. I think Talia Shire's best performance is in this movie. Plus this was the first Rocky movie I saw in the theater - then all after that.
In Rocky 2 Micky trained Rocky almost from 0 to fight right-handed to confuse Apollo, resist till the end to let the left bombs go at the final to get Apollo lost again and get the K.O, cuz on normal fighting level he had no chance. It's just crazy people know so little about sports to think he was a bad trainer. And the picking fights to get more defenses is the basic of the basic on fighting, you don't get hurt unnecessarily and you don't throw your title and all the money that comes with it away
