My first REAL dirt bike. Nothing like it has been made since. It has the most Peaky power band ever for a 125. This power band wasn't the best for racing but back in 76 nothing could keep up with it.

I had a ‘77 that I bought used in ‘78 for$400. Rode it a while and traded it for an RD400. Best deal I ever made.

I too had a 77 yz. Loved the luminum fuel tank. Rear shock was awesome, but needing adjustments.

I had one just like it, except the forks on mine had a cast in rib front and rear on the lower part of the fork. Must have been for strength ? Never seen another like it. My budy had the same bike and year but his didn't have it ???

We have a YZ465. The 125 was something a little softer for my father to ride as he's 71.

@@JSmith19858 I gained almost 40lbs since my last 250cc bike (97 KX250), and raced at about 180. I am not sure if my newer, stock 2019 YZ250 is the slowest bike 250cc MX I ever had, (and the jetting is still stock rich.), or my added weight is the biggest difference. So I will say, that little vintage 125 hauls you around pretty good.

We certainly did plenty of work to it. The only original unmodified bits left are the wheel hubs and fork sliders. I might make a video when it needs a top end refresh showing the internal mods.

@@JSmith19858 I remember the canister forks were called "the "Speedo and tach forks" because they resembled a speedometer and tachometer. I am not sure they were full air forks though, as I think they may have had springs in the legs also. Nice bike.
