Hey guys! Welcome to another instalment of Waifu Wednesdays.
- In July I did a one week tour with @EllieBikes through multiple European cities, seeing some crazy Italian rush hours, getting food poisoning and completing a WHOPPING 2100 miles.
In this episode we journey to Portofino from Lake Como, we managed ti find some beautiful Italian mountain roads on the way down! Riding through Italy's majestic mountains was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. In this video, stumbling across some of the most breath taking scenery. It truly was an amazing adventure with a friend.
We then booked into a lovely AirB&B in Santa Margarita, took a boat over to Portofino.
FUNNY STORY - Ellie and I met in a petrol station two years ago - neither of us had imagined we'd be racking up miles together in 7 different countries a couple years later, but we had the most amazing time together.

After a very stressful, hectic last 10 days, I decided to binge watch the whole trip so far, ending on this one, which is just what the mental reboot needed lol!

In Italy there's usually two services available at petrol stations. The usual one is pumps where the attendants fill your car/bike up. And then there's what we call "self" pumps, which is short for self service, where you fill your vehicle up yourself (this option is cheaper! Fuel is more expensive at the served pumps). The attendant wanted to fill her bike up because while you were at a Self pump, she wasn't 😉
Also, funnily enough, that kind of big jellyfish you saw is relatively harmless. It's called Rhizostoma pulmo and it's very common in the Mediterranean. While it's big and menacing looking, if you touch it you will only get some veeeery light skin irritation and no sting. It's very fun to swim around them as they're very beautiful.
PS: just a word of advice for next times you're in Italy. It's generally frowned upon to wander the city and go into shops and restaurants in your swimming suit (whether man or woman). In a few places you can actually get fined for it (most likely just a bit of a telling off), so pay attention.

I also love how in foreign countries you say a greeting in English in a grocery store. They still ask you if you have a club-card or whatever, you say in English you don't speak their language. And they still keep talking and saying things... But it all always work out, they always understand "by card" 😂

I've been to Italy a few years ago. If an employee fills your tank, you pay a few cents more for the petrol, and at that time I don't remember self-service sections even. So, they always interested in doing the filling themselves instead of you.
