  • Stand with Edith in Jerry's Health Battle
Edith Jackson is organizing this fundraiser.
    Donation protected
On Sunday, April 28, 2024, my (Edith Jackson) husband Jerry Jackson went into cardiac arrest. He stopped breathing while I was on the phone with 911. I started CPR and did CPR for 15-20 minutes before EMT arrived and took over. They got a pulse back and rushed him to Bothwell Hopsital. Bothwell intubated him and got him stable and then transported him to cardiac ICU at MU in Columbia, Mo. They have checked him for heart attack and stroke, which they didn’t find anything. They checked his brain activity because they thought he was in a mild coma, and his brain activity was amazing and showed no signs of a coma. They did a dye test and checked for blockages on his heart, and that test came back great also. He has had a couple of seizures, but they fully believe it is due to medications and detoxing. They did an MRI on him after the first seizure, and his brain showed nothing abnormal.
Today, May 2, they extubated him. He is awake and responds to commands.
Jerry has a long road ahead of him. Unfortunately, he has no medical insurance. And is the sole provider of our bills. On top of all of this I am having to stay in Columbia at a hotel. Anything helps, even prayers!
Jerry is not just a husband but a father, friend, uncle, and grandpa !
All proceeds have been set up to only be used by Edith, his wife, for their bills and living expenses for the next few months to aleviate as much of the financial burden as possible, while they get readjusted with disability and care changes in preparation for him to come home. All of our family and friends have been reaching out asking for an official page to accept donations.
    As previously posted by Edith:
I am asking for a prayer chain ⛓️‍ please for my husband Jerry Jackson.
Thank you all for your prayers, so please keep them coming. We both will be out of work right now, but we still have each other. I’m never giving up and he won’t give up ❤️Thursday morning Update on Jerry his nurse said he had a good night and he woke up on his own he did everything David (the nurse) asked him to do so he said it was a good night. He got plenty of rest
All new updates will continue to be added to the bottom of this page. Thank you for all of your donations, love, and support!
    May 2 UPDATE:
The breathing tube has just been removed today, and he was alert and acknowledged those who came in to see him. He's not speaking yet due to them not wanting him to consider the time he was intubated, things are looking much brighter today as he has been able to cough and clear his throat. He is breathing well, and his stats are looking good.
    Updates (1)
May 3rd, 2024by Edith Jackson, Organizer
    Today, May 3rd,
Jerry is much more alert and enjoying having me in the room with him often. He has a raspy whisper today after having the breathing tube removed yesterday but is having conversations with me more comfortably now. His memory from day to day is still foggy. One day, he remembers some people and the next day won't know who they are again. This and his mobility will still take time (months or more) to heal. Please keep up the prayers and well wishing as it has been helping emensley with keeping everyone in good spirits.
Please share our story to spread the word of our plight. We send our deepest gratitude to those who have already and those who choose to donate in the future.

The urgency of your message shows the sincerity of your loving heart and your loyalty to your loved ones. I wish more people had this kind of compassion for each other. Your attitude towards your chosen family is a true example of the foundation of your roots. I’m so very proud of you for your courage and tenacity in calling out for help no matter what it takes. You are surely a blessing to this family. Keep up being you.😘

The knack for holding someone's interest is brevity. Begin big with; who, what, where, and why, then fill in the details.😉

It says on the GFM that they think it's from detox from medication? Is there a Dr who advised this? I would definitely be looking into that. No judgements whatsoever and i cannot stress that enough. I see the updates and was very happy with the one from the 6th. She said he came to and he came right back. I understand you want to help and they probably deserve that and more. I'm sure the frustration is because people have trust issues. I will send as many prayers as possible!

You're a small channel with few subs and views. And you're asking strangers to donate to a complete stranger? Did it occur to you that most everyone on CZcams has a family member or dear loved one who is going through some kind of medical tragedy or struggle, sadly this is just the way life goes. Your video is very dramatic.

This is not the only platform where the link has been posted. No matter the fallowing and no matter the opinions of those who seek attention by being bitter, these are good people who I care deeply about and will continue sharing their story to do my part in helping, not hindering. There is absolutely nothing wrong with supporting the people you care about.

Dramatic things happen, sometimes it takes a dramatic reaction to a situation when necessary. Asking for help for a loved one is the most unselfish thing one can do. Putting someone else’s need above your own is an act of kindness and love.
I can only imagine it is your lack of experience in these matters that would cause you to react that way.
Everyone has needs, some are greater than others. I have learned from experience it never hurts to ask. The worst that can happen is they would say no. A person can always hope for compassion from others, But it is never expected or demanded. It is always OK to ask for help. Sometimes, it’s more rewarding to give than to receive.
