    As a driver who actually uses the mirrors, when I see a white unit with no trailer, kettle down, map down, phone off, dinner on floor, hands on wheel, trousers up! Seatbelt on! When they go past....back to my jigsaw!

    I do not disagree with this initiative but I would like to see the same resources once in a while attributed to catching rapists thieves and murderers.

    This is awesome work and truly saving peoples lives. I can't understand why we don't see more of this, as the fines alone would cover the expenses. Every single time I drive or look out the window of my house there's many who use their phones, eat whilst driving, speed, etc. etc. So much so that 30%-40% of the drivers I see are breaking the rules and/or driving dangerously.

      Perfect example here, thry pull a lady over for holding a bottle of water by taking his hand off the wheel and pointing to the hard shoulder because, you know, he's invincible but she's just a normal person.

      @@Ed.E HGV drivers are professional drivers, probably more aware than most of the roads.
      It is rubbish drivers people get confused over. The type that get distracted by people on the pavement, passing vehicles, something on the radio etc. Most can think and do different things at the same time and have no problem driving. Rubbish drivers will crash no matter what the distraction, it is their lack of intelligence that is the problem.

Knife crime is rife and stores are robbed so frequently they don’t bother opening at all in many areas of Britain. Got do your research bozo.     I just don’t understand why they still take and use their phone why they drive. Mine goes into my boot in my bag or stays on the passenger floor in the bag. I have hands well in the car but choose not to use it. People are just to attached to their phones. I always said if I end up in a accident with someone using their phone, they better make sure they are injured, if not they will be when I get hold of them if I’m able.

      @@Ed.E the Police are supposed to follow the RTA unless using blues and twos. Trucks have the same legal speed limit with or without a trailer.

      @@eleycki RTA has exclusions for law enforcement as long as the excess speed is reasonable, for example here it's to catch up with lorries and drivers to enforce very important laws. Distracted driving kills hundreds every year

      You will find most HGVs are limited to 56 mph, BUT they can legally do 60 mph in the UK.
      That 56 mph came from good old Europe but it only applies to European registered trucks. Not UK registered trucks although most seem to be limited except 8 wheel tippers, they are legally allowed to drive as fast as possible to get that extra load in🤣🤣🤣🤣

    Have the police got a class 1 licence even though it hasn't got a trailer it still has a 5th wheel which isn't locked so it's 1 set of rules for them and a different set for us

    I would like to see screens and data terminals in emergency vehicles banned unless they face the passenger only.
    You watch the shows about emergency services and the driver is often reading out what is on the screen and playing with it whilst it clearly shows their eyes are not on the road for seconds at a time. That is really dangerous. There is no exemption for this.

    All these small details are reducing impacts to road fatalities and impacts on other road users, but the highway code also recommends that road users should keep 2 chevrons apart for safety, as the police are supposed to be there to keep us safe I would have expected this to have happened but from 0:16 this doesn't seem to be the case.

      If you look at the stats - everyone claims the schemes are not working as they say rates have increased year on year. It shows what a waste of money they are and how ineffective they are as it's rubbish drivers we need to stop - also driving examiners that are passing people that appear not to meet the required standard.

    This is a absolutely disgusting police policy,they should concentrate on catching real crimes in action instead of normal behaviour on a safe road.this is the nanny state at its best it should be the process of natural selection.
    Also chugging round in a vehicle that does 8mpg is not environmentally sustainable.
    Millions of journeys are safely made without these nurse maids making money on the back of the hard working tax payer to be spaffed up the wall.

      Low hanging fruit, mate. Heaven forfend these defenders of the law should ever have to do serious police work outside of booking some clot for going 5km/h over the speed limit. They're either lazy or cowardly, for the most part, and far too many of them are on a power trip. They certainly don't fear the law they purport to serve, successive granting them greater and greater powers has put paid to an serious sense of responsibility on their part. It just ends up being one big jerk-fest, cops getting off on abusing their power over things that displease them personally, picking targets they know won't fight back.

      Really? You think the traffic police,highways and dvsa enjoy looking at people dead or dying? Going to someone's home and telling a family that someone won't be coming home! I'll always remember the polish hgv driver slamming into a que of stationary vehicles and just driving over a car killing a mum and her two small kids! The dad was in another car behind the truck! How would u feel, seeing your family in a squashed car,dead and mangled? Hgv driver was on his phone!

    It would be really easy to significantly reduce the amount of crimes committed on the road. Simply create a system where dashcam owners can send in clips of cars committing crimes, and as long as there's enough evidence, the police would prosecute them and a small percentage of the fines paid would go to the person who sent the clip in. Could even have a scheme where if you buy a dashcam and keep the receipt, then the police would actually pay for the dashcam if you submit 3 clips that end up getting someone prosecuted within 6 months or something along those lines. I'd have to imagine the only people that would be against a scheme such as this, are careless drivers.
