one ques i have now. When i tried to code in trial account (cloud one) i need to give " " while accessing table . like
it_air = select client, airport_id, name
FROM "/DMO/AIRPORT" WHERE client = :client1; where client1 is coming from parameters

Since your table have forward slash "/" we have to pass qutes " "

It depends , They will convert either in simple class-method or AMDP method depending on complexity. They already converted lot of utility FM to class-method. Not sure they convert all or not ...

If you didn't get error while updated it got updated .You want to reconfirm then you have to read the data again to check it got updated...
