Delves seem like " casual but challenging" content? Not much of an issue to get in, but it can still demand effort from the player.

my big worry with delves is they will gut them like Torghast. power prog wasn't really the problem. the Legos are not really power prog (they were more like a worse grind for raiding/endgame mats like pots), and that was one of the problems, Torghast is a rouge like, and your toon getting stronger for each new run is a good thing (delves are in a good spot for that right now) the other problem Torghast had was that they gutted it, they remove a lot of the crazy powers and made it 5 floors, even the 18 floors didn't bring back what was epic in the beta. my fear is that they will have a repeat. (though its less of a fear because delves are closer to the type of content that their used to making)
You can drop the item you're carrying. just don't leave the radius and pick it back up when not in combat.
the key is to open a chest at the end of the delve ( if the delve is with the bountiful buff ) not to enter the delve
