    The manual that came with the unit in my Forest River Wolf Pup was unclear about operation on shore power. CZcams videos showed me what I needed to know, but the manual never told me about the rocker switch that's up behind the gas line inside the side cover. I thought the element might be bad until I tested resistance... and spied the switch while I was doing it. Off to CZcams I went looking for information on it.

    Hi. Bought a 2008 Springdale Summerland this past Spring. 1st TT for us. When trying out the electric part of the water heater do you always have to run electric and propane at first? I do not have a switch on the exterior of the water heater to flip. Just a switch (for the water heater) inside where the circuit breakers are. I know your video shows a switch on the exterior, but I insist mine does not have one.

    Great Video. I have a 2014 Forest River XLR camper. I only have one electric water heater switch at the water heater. I only have one hot water heater switch inside that turns on the gas. This switch is only labeled as hot water and doesn't differentiate between gas or electric. When I turn the switch on in the camper, it lights the gas burner at the water heater. While hooked up to city electric, do I activate the electric water heater only with just the switch at the water heater? Thank you!

    Very informative. We have an issue that was not addressed. We have a Suburban 6 gallon propane water heater in our rv. The water heats up for about 1/2 hour, then shoots out boiling with steam, through the pressure relief valve . It does this even after replacing the thermostat (twice). Do you have any ideas on what could be causing this and how to correct it?

  • @peteludwik4138

    Just curious.. You suggest filling the tank by leaving a faucet open, allowing an air pocket to remain in the tank, but is the pressure release valve not low enough to still allow for that?

    • @TheAirForceGuy
      @TheAirForceGuy  Před 4 lety

      If you use the pressure relief valve to fill your water heater tank, it will not leave an air pocket and you run the risk of it not functioning properly. Thanks for the question.

    I do have one issue maybe u could help me with....I have a 2009 r-pod with a suburban sw6 DE & I've been using the hot water with propane with no issues or leaks whatsoever.....until I decided to make sure the electric heating element was not blown & was in working order(which WAS in fact blown) & when draining the water heater tank, quite a bit of water leaked into the camper & I just wanna know weather that's caused from a hole in the tank or a hole in a hose? Obviously hoping for the latter as I'm assuming that replacing a hose is not quite as expensive as the $400 to buy a new unit.....but then again I am new to this😁 Any insight would be greatly appreciated & thank you in advance.
