The problem with these early access games is it's easier for the developers to work on the look of the game, like adding better looking water, new trees and bushes. Adding content (new things to do) to the game is not as easy as many people think. It needs to be in context with the rest of the game (sometimes developers get burned out trying to come up with new ideas for an existing game) and it has to work with the mechanics of the rest of the game. That's not to say that working on new static models and textures is a walk in the park, but it's a lot easier than, say, making a rain barrel that collects water when it rains and making sure it integrates with the rest of the game's interface and mechanics.

Yeah, in my game... i'm having trouble just eating and drinking, let alone adventuring, perhaps that's why you haven't gottan back to this?
Here the problem when doing new content you can ask for more they put it in and feel lackluster all over again and say I wish there was more content again. But the best thing to do is hold off for a long while that way you can look at it with a fresh pair of eyes

Yeh lol, thats what i was gunna suggest, take a week off and just burn through as many as you can, he gets pretty descriptive, so it should help. I would also suggest google maps for landmarks and what not, and call some of the local businesses, will allow you to 'spell' the accent and get a better gist of the atmosphere. . . Local knowledge always reigns supreme
this game needs co-op or multiplayer you could all be survivors you each find an island then you need to find other people in game and work together to survive
I COMPLETELY agree. I requested that they re-add the bucket and the distiller, cuz water's too hard to come by, especially if you have farm plots that need watering.

I wish they would take the hot bar mechanic from this game and put it in The Forest, it's way more convenient to just be able to open it up like that
