This guitar is amazing!!!! I absolutely love it. There are a couple of negatives, but the positives FAR outweigh them!!!! Check it out!!!!! www.joehartband...
I bought the speedester model used 5 years ago and absolutely love it more than any other guitars I have owned. 1- super light 2- comfortable to play, 3- I could take it on a plane on board no problem at all. 4- it sounds amazing on my Bugera V2 tube amp. Con: Restringing is really hard to do, then I ordered from the Traveller Guitar company their locking tuners...which I dont know why they dont stock them on their high end models. Stringing became a breeze. The guitar is a little hard to get good amount of neck relief. May be it is only the one I have. Other than that I am willing to buy another one in the future.
Wonderful review THANKS! for covering issues with the leg support. Per their web page the leather strap was added for store display by hanging. They suggest using wire cutters on the plastic tie wrap that holds the leather strap if the strap is not needed.
I have an electric one of them. they have updated the leg rest with a good rubber cover to stop the slip. the leg rest can be turned around to move the guitar to the left to over come that problem
@@JoeHartRocks Maybe vacuum tubing at an auto parts place if there's more than one diameter. Plan B could be a glue or paint with sand sprinkled on it.
Mr. Joe Hart thanks and congratulations for this review. To me it has been very useful. I was in doubt on purchasing or not this guitar but thanks to your fair explanations I've understood definitely more and more.
Nice review. My wife gave me this for Christmas. Blown away by the action, accuracy of its staying in tune. Not a great fan of the tuners. What I seriously don't like is how my hand naturally rest on the chord. That will add stress to the input but other than that. It really is a nice travel guitar. I still prefer my tacamini traveler as it doesn't need amplification where this does. Great practice guitar. Again, I enjoyed your review.
Hey Joe, Great review and I just bought the maple version second hand online. Did you ever get to play the ELECTRIC Ultra Light, like you said you hoped to? I can not find ANYTHING online to compare the two. Even on the Traveler website. To be honest I thought I was buying the electric and after I won the auction I realised there are the two Ultra Light categories by Traveler - Acoustic (Piezo) and Electric. However, I am happy with the acoustic revies I've heard/seen. Although if the electric offers all the acoustic does (sound) plus coil/mag pickup bite, I may be slightly niggled! Thanks.
Three years ago, I bought my son the traveler escape which is acoustic electric and a full body guitar. I now want to get for him a belated birthday gift in the form of a guitar amp. Can you recommend any that go well With the Traveler Guitar? A friend of mine in the music business tells me to get a six line spider amp which seems like I will get from Amazon.
Just me messing around. Play an EM open chord, then move it up one fret leaving the open strings as open. The single notes are just from an E Dominant Phrygian Scale. Hope this helps!!
i bought a Traveler Aooustic Electric Ultralite on an auction. i put martin strings on it, and plugged it in. it's the worst sounding guitar i've ever played, both directly thru an amp or thru a pedal to try and adjust the tone. is it possible that a setup could fix this? it sounds very bad, like a cheap toy.
Not really. You could fit an actual guitar pickup into it (maybe in the neck position), but it's still an inexpensive weirdly-shaped guitar. There's a reason electric guitars are built with certain shapes, woods, hardware, sizes, electronics... and when you change things up, the sound will also change. In this case, maybe not for the better. But for a travel guitar, I find it amazing!!
You cannot plug earphones directly into the guitar, but if you have some way to amplify the guitar output that allows using earphones, then yes. Vox makes some that plug into the guitar and are earphone ready.
Just bought one, waiting on delivery. Anticipation
It's a very fun guitar!!

Thanks. I was thinking of getting some rubber tubing to put on the leg rest.

You cannot talk bad about a gift. Nice Guitar.
You should make a 1 year review with that guitar! I would definitely like to know how well it performed
The fretboard is supossed to be Black Walnut
I didn't know that. It could be!
Dear Joe, would love for you to check out Yudelele travel guitars! 🎸

No. I haven't, yet. But if I get enough CZcams action, maybe they will send me one!! :-)
Very good detailed review. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!!
can i ask what that contraption that is holding your pick is? by the way, loved this review!
It's a Pick Slinger! It is very cool!!!

I would second the Line 6. Also, look into the Boss Katana. That's a great amp, too.
What was the song in the beginning? I would love to be able to play that.

is this a nylon string one?
Perfect review
Thank you!

correction: i made a mistake putting on the strings, the guitar actually sounds fine, rings better than the traveler speedster i have.
Can I plug my earphones so only myself can hear it?

@@JoeHartRocks thank you :)
great demo, only takes double ball strings?
No! Standard strings. The tuners are just normal tuners mounted in the body instead of the headstock. Quite ingenius!!!
