      Hey, if you like the fake carbs, you're gonna love the fake hardtail, fake rear srung-hub, fake points cover, fake 'Smiths' speedo, and finally, the fake "look what I designed and built in my garage", concept.

    I had my heart set on a bobber 3 years ago. I took one for a test ride and we didn't get on. Nothing wrong with the bike as such, we just didn't gel. Took the speedmaster out and fell in love immediately! Effectively the same bike in a different frock, but felt so different. From a riders point of view, obviously, peg position and bars are different, but the way it Rode was different too. Both beautiful, both practically perfect in the power delivery, both stunning. If you don't like one, try the other. Great review as usual Spicy.

    • @dave6467
      @dave6467 Před 3 lety

      I took one out 4 years ago. My local Triumph dealer talked me into it as they didn't have a T120 available to test. The engine was OK (which is why they sent me out on it), but fankly I couldn't wait to get off it. It was sooo emabrassing to be seen on. It's so pretentious and "stuck up its own hardtail", that you can't take this bike seriously.

    • @paulkinsella612
      @paulkinsella612 Před 3 lety +5

      @@dave6467 fair enough, everyone is different. My take is, if you worry what you look like riding a bike then it's not the one for you. I don't give a flying doo dah what anyone else thinks. I think it's cool as penguin piss, and as I'm the one who paid for it, I'm the only person that it has to please. At least you had a ride before coming to your decision, so many people slate a bike and have never even swung a leg over it. I hope you find "Your" bike. Stay safe.

    • @dave6467
      @dave6467 Před 3 lety

      @@paulkinsella612 yep good call and I feel quite bad for being critical of it now. 😬. You're right that it's the owner who has to feel a passion for their bike. Nobody else. I guess I just found it a bit over the top style wise and a bit fake. But it certainly appeals to a lot of people and Triumph have sold thousands of them.

    Speaking as someone who's done 189 on British roads, more times than I care to remember, you definitely can go faster than 70 on a GSXR1000.
    And although I'm a fool who is addicted to speed, I have to say I almost completely stopped riding my GSXR when I bought an old DR600 thumper.
    Turns out that, slow with drama is just more fun than fast with ease.

    I m so torn between the Triumph Bobber/Speedmaster and the Indian Scout bobber. The struggle is unreal. Already testdrove both and they both feel amazing! Service and Community are both equally here. It’s so hard.

    • @ramirof1986
      @ramirof1986 Před 2 lety +7

      I’m right there with you. The way I see it is that since the Indian is a bit cheaper I can use the difference I save on switching the suspension and seat (which I hear is atrocious)…but it will never look like the triumph. Plus the triumph has more safety features and cruise control. Aaaaand we are back to square one 😂

      @@corincrilow9172 hey mate, if it gives you a little bit decision help. i decided for the scout bobber. It felt for me that you have the possibility to drive a little bit faster on your own with great sound and power while still having the ability to get a passenger on board and have the cruiser feeling the speedmaster gives you. In terms of optic i still prefer the old school speedmaster, but they are both great machines with the indian taking it performance wise for me and i won t have a socia 24/7. Have a save ride!

    very strange gearing - very long- they've made it 4 gears!. I suppose it makes full use of the torque and relaxes the ride experience.
    I would run a compromise - change the sprockets to have 5 useable, with 6th as a long overdrive (70mph+). This would sharpen the acceleration and not ask the engine to pull from low revs so much.

    I think if I live long enough to not be able to ride sporty bikes anymore, I'd probably ride a bobber style bike. Something about that pre ww2 look appeals to me. I could never see myself owning one right now because I need the agility, power and practicality. Even with a sportsbike you can mount a top box, panniers tail bag and tank bag if you need to. With this, you either ruin the elegance of the design by fitting a rack to the rear somehow or you're stuck with a tank bag and backpack.

  • @Xenro66
    @Xenro66 Před 3 lety

    Jk lmao.
    I still hold the same opinion that I left with on the first ride video, it's not quite my cup of tea. If I was going for a bobber style bike, I'd personally want the most power and torque possible low down, but something like this is just perfect for those that aren't interested in all the newfangled crotch rockets, supernakeds, supermotos, but also don't want a rolling sofa like a goldwing. Classic biking will always have an appeal somewhere.

      I you were young and had never ridden I would say no just because it's a large bike in size, weight, and displacement. However, if you used to ride something like it in the past you are not truly a new rider.(though it is a good way to look at it) I would say you probably could yes, but I think taking refresher training would be a good idea beforehand.
