Dave Mackintosh is one of the best living drummers in the world. Those who say "bah, he plays with gloves :|", you are just fools, gloves cuts circulation and makes it hard to play, needs practice to play with gloves and a lot to play for that long. besides, SEE him, he sings all the song while playing, he owns!!!

Later, during the slowed down solo. About 4:27 is when he uses heel-up for the 16ths. I'm guessing because it's a slower pace and it's easier, considering as many songs he has to play for a show at 200bpm...yeah.
It was very interesting to hear the mix with the drums 100% in the front but still be able to hear the rest of the instruments in the back. Also a big plus being able to watch Dave through the song. Usually it's so fast, it's hard to catch what he is doing. Thanks!

This guy is sick man. DragonForce has a great drummer.
He uses triggers, but they don't hit the bass drum. They hit a trigger pad, and he doesn't tap the trigger pads. He hits them hard enough to give effort while playing, and he also does heel-toe with his feet.
Dave Mac is God !! He hits with Power and he WILL BE BACK in D-Force ,..I guarantee it ! It takes ridiculous stamina and commitment to tour with D Force and their new guy doesn't hit with the kind of power that Dave delivers ,... D Force will figure it out over time - You don't Lose a Dave Mac - He doesn't Quit and you don't Fire him !! You keep a Dave at all cost !! or the band is soon finished ,.. Losing ZP was bad enough -
That was painful to read.
They didn't fire him. He left because he wanted to go in a different musical direction than the band was going in. They don't hate each other or anything.

@metalliman27 In this video, yes, Dave IS using heel-toe. You can tell from the beginning, where the blastbeat begins. His legs are only moving half tempo. Let me break it down for you.
Heel-up = rlrlrlrl
Heel-toe = r-l-r-l-
He's moving his feet to eighth notes. Therefor, by default, he's using heel-toe technique. =]

@coasternut3091 he has amazing song structure, and every now and then he will put in a truly complex lick....but other than that it's mainly his style and fast fills that make him so famous.....but i still love him, and that's why i say that when musicians reach a certain level of skill they all have certain traits which make them better than the others, but every true drummer has their own voice!
@jizahl From the interview I heard post-ZP, talking about Marc, they tuned down for ZP's voice live. Understandable, singing DF songs one after another kills most men's voices!

@metalliman27 You don't need longboards to do heel-toe. Before I sold my set, I myself had Iron Cobra Rolling Glides. The same exact pedal. I could do it. You also have to realize that Dave is like 4"5' lol..

He is not doing heal toe, there is no way!!
He uses heel-toe, but he uses roland kick drum triggers too, so i think there is no matter how hard or light he hits the pedal, if the beater hits trigger the sound will always be the same.
TheCzlowiekZagadka but you have to know how to play drums anyway with or without triggers? he is good drummer, it will not make it easier with triggers.. but using triggers will make the bassdrum sounds better, without triggers it will sounds crazy in that speed. trust me.
Mikael Josefsson I know he is good drummer, but i was thinking of his feet speed, and you know, that if song is faster, real bass drums sound is more silent, trigger hasn't got this problem.

if he is using triggers, then he can just be tapping the bass head with the beater, but still will get a good drum tone. listen to his toms and snare, dude chokes the shit out of everything....hitting WAY to hard

Here's my theory: This guy's got chops until armageddon... but he can't "solo", i.e. play a drum feature. He acts like a metronome in DF.
I want to see a video of this guy soloing, largely because I have a sneaking suspicion that he can't.

Drum solos are boring, even when being performed by top class drummers, so him not being able to solo doesn't matter one iota in my eyes. And that's coming from a drummer.
