  • It's finally time to start the mechanical work on the Cabriolet project. In this video I will be replacing fluids, brakes, suspension components, sensors, filters, etc.
There's too much to fit into one video, so a part 2 completing the mechanical work will follow.
Like and subscribe to keep up with this project and check out my other videos.

Spark plugs. Check to see if the terminal end unscrews off ;)

Yep, that was the first thing I tried...just snapped it off. NGK has different part numbers for screw terminals and fixed terminals. However, Rockauto doesn't make the distinction on their site and just says they both apply.

Could you use better lighting in the wheel wells and other black holes. I started watching specifically for the Miata episodes but now I am watching for thought processes and techniques.

Thanks for this. I'm up against a timing belt change. Any issue with rounding those hex boots in the pulleys? Did you heat them first?

Luckily they all came out and I was able to reuse without any heat. I took a pick and cleaned them out first, then made sure to tap the bit in to make sure it was all the way seated. I used a battery impact and they all spun right out.

@Ironically Engineered OK. Thanks. I have a small Milwaukee impact that should fit up there. It's just fear of the unknown that's holding me back since it's running well now.

The engine compartment is a another black hole.
