    I just did this the other day. Easiest dosh darn job ever when ya have a gasket. 5 bucks for the paper fel pro gasket. And 8 bucks for some differential rtv. A lot of off-road guys I talked to said the light film of rtv on paper gaskets helps. And incase it leaks, you still got some rtv left over to do it again.

    175 thousand miles and still looking new. Guess I’ll wait on changing mine as I only have 132 thousand miles on it

    I noticed my diff has had a small leak for months and today the rear end started whining at highway speeds. Gonna do this hopefully it goes away once I put new fluid in it.

    Do the make aftermarket covers with a drain plug for the Rangers?

    you definitely don't live in the rust belt

    There isn’t any detergent in oil for differentials, so it will always look clean.

    Was that a 1/2” drive or 3/8” drive that you used to remove the fill plug?

    There is no drain plug on the rear diff? You really need to remove the cover to change the fluid?

      For the Ranger, Yes, you must remove the cover. There is no drain plug.

      It isn't as good as liquid wrench (which I use at 5:00 in) but it does help with rust.

    What kind of fluid did you use 75w-90 ?

    • @burrheadjr
      @burrheadjr  Před 3 lety +3

      Yes, that is it, if you freeze the frame at 9:41, you can kinda see it on the bottle, I should have done more to call out the type of fluid I was using.
