This bassline was written and performed on the album by Billy. As was 100% of Siamese Dream except for the drums.
I don't know if she was underrated, but she was definitely under-utilized & subservient to Billy.

Wish I could have been there, but thank God for CZcams, because just getting to see ACTUAL footage of the Siamese Dream release party is AMAZING! Easily one of the best rock albums in history.... like in the top 10, probably #6...

Summer of '94 I had $15 in my pocket and at the mall... walked into CAMELOT MUSIC with my mind set on Soundgarden Superunknown but walked out with Siamese Dream. Waited another payday to buy Soundgarden. Didn't know much about Smashing Pumpkins but I soon learned!
I miss that era of Music.

Yessss! This was an amazing performance! I was a little late in the game and didn’t get into the Pumpkins til one cold morning, 1st year of law school in Chicago, in early 1996, when my radio alarm gently woke me up the the most heavenly/dreamy song , “1979.” I just laid in bed, eyes shut, under my warm comforter and did not move… trance-like, but warm in my cocoon… I waited to hear the Band’s name, as they would usually tell u after a song… nothing, went to a commercial… ai was then obsessed, and irritated in a way bc I felt almost primal with the question stuck in my head then…. “WHO IS THIS????!!!” [band]. Lol. The 1st time that happened to me, was in 1991, at a Calvin College party in Grand Rapids, MI, (I went to GVSU), but we all were servers at the same restaurant…I was sitting on the dryer in their basement where the music was, and someone put in Nirvana! And didn’t even start at the beginning of the cD, skipped to their song(title track), “Nevermind.” Same physiological feeling, and I slid off the dryer (jumped) ran over to the dude and was like, “WHO IS THIS!!???” Haha
Sorry got off topic of Cherub Rock, but certain bands just move you! Xo

    [Verse 1]
    Freak out and give in
Doesn't matter what you believe in
    Stay cool
And be somebody's fool this year
    'Cause they know
Who is righteous, what is bold
    So I’m told
    [Pre-Chorus]
    Who wants honey?
As long as there's some money
    Who wants that honey?
    [Verse 2]
    Hipsters unite
Come align for the big fight to rock (for you)
    But beware
All those angels with their wings glued on
    'Cause deep down
They are frightened and they're scared
    If you don't stare
    [Pre-Chorus]
    Who wants honey?
As long as there's some money
    Who wants that honey?
    [Chorus]
    Let me out
    (Let)
    Let me out
    (Let)
    Let me out
    (Let)
    Let me out
    [Guitar Solo]
    [Bridge]
Tell me all of your secrets
Cannot help but believe this is true
Tell me all of your secrets
    I know, I know, I know
Should have listened when I was told
    [Pre-Chorus]
    Who wants that honey?
As long as there's some money
    Who wants that honey?
    [Chorus]
    Let me out

You know, you can still find good music nowadays, but there was just something so special about all the god-tier school of music made between the 60's-90's that displayed a level of magic and power never seen before. Still, the best bands nowadays (IMO) are the old geezers from the 70's-90's that are still making music up to this day, and their modern counterparts who still keep the spirit alive. This was a movement of music that people, even the young generations, still gravitate to because it is just that fucking good.

In this generation people are trying to bring back rock and punk n what not. They just do it in the way where it doesn't feel legit if you know what i mean. Like how greta van fleet makes music that sounds like led zeppelin and how so called "punk" musicians label themselves as punk when they go completely against punk morals and pretty much turn it into a gimmick rather that actually being legit.
