  • Running an application on Kubernetes is only half of the journey. Reliably serving it on the Internet is the other half.
Load balancers are critical when exposing services to the world. Kubernetes provides a variety of constructs to facilitate this. However, Kubernetes was designed at a time when VMs were pervasive and cloud load balancers were optimized for VMs. This translated into design compromises.
In this talk, we will review the evolution of load balancing in Kubernetes, discuss the trade-offs, and introduce a new approach to expose containers through load balancer with no compromise on GKE.

Is there any estimate as to when a cloud load balancer, as part of an ingress, will be able to support more than ten certificates?

It's on the roadmap. How many certificates would be required for your use case?

Good talk, but terrible camera man. Watch Apple's conference to learn how to switch between slides and speaker.
