    Two things: 1) did not have to remove gearbox. 2) should have mentioned to importance of NOT messing up the bearings in the gearbox cap.

    I have a black n' decker grinder, and the lock button broke, the pin is still there but is not secured by anything so it dances around a lot when I turn the grinder on, i'm afraid it may lock the thing while is turned on and it destroys the gears and the motor. Can I get rid of the pin without too much negative concecuences?

    Yea but what if you can't lock it with a shroud and diamond cup on it? I can't get them off because it won't lock...

    This is very poor design. When the thing get's hot, the button softens, and lets the pin go. And the problem is not that the grinder locks up, but the gear breaks. The problem is not how to replace the pin, rather how to replace the gear.

    Hi. I have a Stramm angle grinder, the lock pin mechanism failed. Any ideas on fixing it.. as it is not exactly the same as makita

    This video does not apply and cannot apply to Makita model 9556NB!! Lock button is totally different!!!
