Alisa Mikhailovna Kujou is Seiren Private Academy’s “solitary princess.” She’s a half-Russian beauty with silver hair, at the top of her class, student council accountant, and…completely unapproachable. For some reason, she’s also taken on the responsibility of reprimanding the slacker who sits next to her in class. Masachika Kuze is constantly frustrating her by falling asleep, forgetting his textbooks, and just being an overall unexemplary student. Or at least, that’s how it looks from the outside. She may put on a tough act, but she doesn’t mind Masachika as much as others would think. She even lets him call her by her nickname, Alya. Anyone hearing the comments she mutters in Russian under her breath might know how she really feels, but since none of her classmates understand the language, she’s free to say whatever she likes! Except…there is one person who knows what she’s saying. Masachika eavesdrops on her embarrassing revelations, pretending to be clueless, all the while wondering what her flirtatious comments actually mean!

@@ColinUniverse All we've seen is the art from the trailer/teaser, not even the finished, final product. It's cool if you'd rather read manga than watch anime in general, but that seems like a very weak reason to not watch the anime, imo. You're free to do whatever, though.

Alya kind of reminds me of Anastasia (aka Anya) from THE iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls because like the former the latter is also a half-Russian girl, except Anya's sweet and friendly while Alya's more of an ice-queen.
It's the same voice actress lol (Sumire Uesaka).
Weird that Anastasia is Anya, because Russians would shorten it to Nastya

nah she is just so cute
Nah, she's more a Tsundere with a heart of gold (and very little Tsun overall) and can't really stand people putting her up on a pedestal for the things she was born with rather than the things she's achieved by her own merit. Which, in a Japanese school where she's the Class Idol by default, means she doesn't talk to people.
She's also one of the rare Tsunderes that will go out of their way to apologize when her Tsun moments go at all over the line, and doesn't repeat it once she does.

I actually read the first volume just now. Originally wanted to test a local e-commerce custom novel printing service but I was so disappointed that I ended up reading this digitally and finishing the first volume in a day.
It's pretty good. I like how much of a stealth chad the MC is - bro is such an aggressive slacker he managed to make Alya goes from hating her to more actively flirt with him by just ignoring her. On the other hand, for all that she's such a girlboss, Alya's progress with him is literally just girlfailuring her way through her own inability to act normally with others. They have pretty good dynamics with each others, and the supporting cast looks good too. I especially loved Yuki, she's such a little shit.
It got me interested enough to read up the synopsises of all the books on YP's site, and I'm somewhat disappointed that they haven't gotten together yet by the end of Vol. 4.5 so if anyone's expecting this to be OtoTen, like me, it's not. But it seems genuinely good for what it is, a a slow-burn story of two contrasting people who can't be honest with each others, stumbling themselves through their own failings as a person, growing from it, and getting closer with each others.
Give it time. There _is_ non-reset progression, but it's more gradual than blatant. Besides, this gives us more light novels to enjoy :)
