I once did this to Catun... Or at least put the skeleton down. Now that was a long wall.Anyway, you should know that you actually can build over terrain, you just have to use smaller segments of wall.

I have now almost 300hrs and never touched a single ore around the hub so far😂😂🤷♂️
I've tried this, but I cheated with the "Buy the Hub" mod so I could build closer to the Hub.Entertaining!

Did those paladins and bandits stay there forever staring at the wall, or did they eventually leave?
I kept playing for a few ingame days to check and they stayed there
