Yes, but in S.E. Asia the aquaculture farms frequently lose their entire “herd” when they have typhoons and cyclones…. A couple years ago there was that bad year where half the countries got hit hard, it really affected the seafood markets worldwide for costs.

@@leorickt.9604 I also am in the same freezing winters. My plan is to keep breeders indoors over winter and start breeding late winter/early spring. This way they are grow out ready by May-June. Their outdoor insulated ponds/tanks water will be solar, wind and generator/grid heated.
We are limited due to insulation and heating costs. But, once infrastructure is in place and bugs worked out, it can be done.

Some of the cheaper restaurants will try and pass these mud crabs in the soft shell form off as blue crabs. When you order your soft shell crab sandwich for instance, check that the shell comes to a point on the ends and not rounded like a mud crab...and then don't go back if they put mud crabs in your sandwich.

My research shows that brackish water is a mixture of fresh and seawater. Table salt does not have the minerals that seawater has, so it is not to be used. The mouth of a river will have brackish water. The salinity is lower than seawater.
