We need to remember all those that have done for the people. All people. Not just a select few. Civil Rights Influencers are those people. Thank you for without these people we all would be living in a worse world today. But let us not forget that this is not over until all are treated as equal.

SNCC did not organize the 1961 Freedom Rides. This was a project of CORE, the Congress of Racial Equality. After the first buses were attacked in Anniston and Birmingham in May 1961, CORE decided to end the Freedom Ride. But the Nashville Student Movement, led by Diane Nash, stepped in and organized supplementary rides, not under the auspices of SNCC (which, in May 1961, was still getting its legs). But CORE resumed its leadership role by the end of May, pushed by student chapters throughout the South. The rides continued through the end of the year. SNCC did not sponsor or organize the rides. After the initial wave of violence, it was a collaborative effort by multiple groups, with CORE at the front.

I feel like Delores Huerta is out of place in this video. When people speak on the civil rights movement, they are speaking on the struggle of black Americans fighting Jim Crow oppression. Better labor practices for farm workers is a separate matter altogether. We’re talking about the worst continuous human rights crisis of all time, not farm worker wages.
