  • "Aviva Blum-Wachs was born in Warsaw in 1932 to Abrasza and Luba Blum. Abrasza was a leader in the Bund and Luba was the deputy director of a nursing school. When the ghetto was established in the city, the Blum family was imprisoned there.
Aviva's mother managed to save her children and other Jews during two deportations in the summer of 1942 and January 1943. Following the latter, Abrasza and Luba decided to smuggle their children to the Aryan side. Aviva was taken to Aurelia Borkowska, who was later recognized as Righteous Among the Nations. However, after Aviva's hiding place was disclosed, she was moved from place to place for several months. Her brother Olek remained with relatives of Borkowska until the end of the war.
Aviva and her mother later fled to a hiding place in southern Poland. After the liberation in January 1945, they reunited with Olek in Warsaw. The three moved to the children's home in Otwock, where Luba served as manager.
Aviva left the children's home in 1948 and attended a school in Warsaw. In 1950 she immigrated to Israel.
Aviva is an artist. Her works have been exhibited in Israel and around the world and have garnered awards.
Aviva has a daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

@@zwijntje3010 Hello Poesjes, I so agree with you! The world had always feared that "someday" the Jews will rise to power, and conquer the whole world! And in this illogical, baseless and primarily jealous assumption, the world has been annihilating this innocent and hard working people for God knows how many centuries.
I have my deepest sympathies for everything that they have had to endure, for literally no fault of theirs. Yet the hate never seems to stop coming their way. 😥
Being that you are from The Netherlands Poesjes, have you visited The Anne Frank House?

Hai Adam, I totally agree with all the things you said above! The Anne Frankhouse, I can't remember how much times I visit that house, when I was younger my family and I went every year!!! It has something very special, perhaps an aura, you can feel the fear off those poor 8 people who were hidden there. Poor, brave people, I really love them, they felt like family to me. So sad they were betrayed!!! And it's so frustrated that we don't know who did it. By the way, are you from the USA? Just curious. Have a very nice day my friend, from the Netherlands with love 😘🕊😥✡️💞

@@zwijntje3010 Hello again Poesjes! I cannot believe you visited the Anne Frank House that many times...how truly fortunate! I was so deeply moved by her story, that I desperately wanted to see the house in person........but then Covid happened... 😑
I agree the experience would be very special...to be standing in that very room where they lived out those years...I can only imagine Poesjes! 🤗
And yes, after going through the Diary, and atleast 3 different movies on the subject...I too feel very attached to the story...much like you do...
I am from Mumbai, India Poesjes...sorry I missed to mention it earlier. I wish we could talk more often than this... Take care my dear friend... ⚘💕

Thank you for sharing your story with the world. Times of war expose the very worst in mankind, but also shows us beautiful glimpses of compassion, mercy and self sacrifice.
