In the long term this hobby has shown it rewards those who wait but for those wanting to maximize gains and realize them before it dips again it’s a good time to liquidate IMO😎
If everyone is about to sell then just get ready to buy at great prices because it will force a crash
Haha always good to set funds aside and wait things out but again I don’t know if we’ll ever see a crash per se but I do believe we’re over due a serious correction but this hobby has surprised me more than once… we’ll see 😎

I think the V alternate Will drop a lot but will rise for the 30th anniversary, so will create a Big "V" in the TCG graph.
I can get behind that statement for sure. V’s in particular should fall given their intense hype market doesn’t care though either way could continue to rise could drop. It’s an amazing time to watch history unfold for the franchise 😎

Personally, if it was me, I’d offload my investments at their all time highs, IF I needed the money. Otherwise I’d patiently keep them 😊
I do need the money so I’m happy to take some gains now. But yeah in the perfect world holding longer takes zero effort so I get that 😎
This video was the sign I needed so thank you haha I have been on the fence but there’s a Collect a Con in two weeks nearby where I’m going to sell off a good amount of my slabs but keep the high end ones like Moonbreon and Gengar and some other arts I like, like the Charizard V and Aerodactyl. Been relaxing on buying any product, waiting to see how Stellar Crown is and the sets after that before investing in more boxes.

Well honestly o think that modern is eventually gonna be vintage . Atleast that’s how I look at it . And sealed booster boxes and packs will always gain value

I would recommend eBay and look at master sets in auction or buy singles but that might take a long time 😎 I find some great deals through auctions
Dud. Sell all those empty boxes in back of you and put some sealed.
I have so much sealed already and the empty boxes mean more to me than any sealed modern box because it reflects the history of the hobby and its roots! I’m still not done either I’m missing a few vintage boxes still 😎

Great discussion today, Orion. I'm not at a place where I need to sell but I may try to snag a few cards I really want. I ended up passing on virtually all the big alt arts from SWSH because of the hype. I'm hoping in a few months there will be a small reduction in price and a lull in the market so buyers have a better position.
Yeah I feel the true alt art “dump” already happened last year but there’s no reason there can’t be a slight discount from current highs. 😎
I think prices go up after the election (depending on who wins). The best time to buy was always yesterday.
Possibly, the elections could throw everyone for a loop… good point. I think we’ll see a spike in December too for Christmas buying 🤷🏻♀️
What sleeves do you use that fit over graded guards ?

There are a ton of different brands that make them just google graded slab sleeves.

@@Daddydonkeykong just measure the slab with the guard on it and you can order the slab bag that matches those dimensions.

Well selling quickly and selling after a few years are different I think a lot of people feel selling now would be too soon but could be quite the opposite that maybe selling now is a great way to capture gains to roll into another thing with growth potential at least as far as my sealed stuff goes I feel now is a good time to capitalize 🤷🏻♀️
P.S. You might want to be very careful with PSA cards.
There has been reported cases of them slabbing cards that Kurt’s card cleaner has been used on.
The problem of that is the same one as with coins which is that even if it doesn’t have a visible impact right now that doesn’t mean it won’t happen over time where the card darkens or the colors fade due to use of such cleaners.
Absolutely aware and something that worries me which is why I always look for older slabs now. I almost never bid on new cert cards unless I know the owner or story about the cards origin. Great point too luckily few people are actually using cleaners I would think? 🤷🏻♀️
@@orionsires You’d be surprised how many people use it. I’ve seen all kinds of “card cleaning” services on Instagram that’s why I mention it.
Silver coins had the same problem when people used toothpaste to clean them.
It took years for the damage to finally build enough to be visible and by then it was too late.
Collectors flocking to gem mint 10 and harder grades is a natural response to product flooding the zone

SwSh (and on) will be more volatile due to higher % of collectors focused on [$ and streamers]. I think everyone recognizes SwSh alts were at a absolute max, and will eventually settle at a local min. Same thing happened with SM alts a year ago.
Brian you are spot on and a lot of people forget about SM hype.. especially people coming in who haven’t seen this before
i pretty much got what i wanted for my collection now im just buying sets that releases, waiting for more 151 reprints to mass load on it

Personally I think vintage is going to be fine but I think the price increases might be much much slower.
Whereas I think sealed is more volatile but I think it has more potential to grow.
Like I can see a Paldea Evolved booster box costing $200 before the price of a 1st edition base set Charizard doubling.
As for me I plan on holding for the long game. I want to be the guy when product when all the other investors have sold out.
No that makes perfect sense. In a lot of ways I think of I put 19k that I spent on zard into sealed it could have grown a lot more potentially and obviously easier to unload, larger market and lower cost to entry so that’s a great point! I think alot about how much sealed I could have bought and flipped compared to the zard but man my garage would be so full of cases it would be kinda ridiculous 😂
Im selling all the sirs and irs i just graded. I really like the 151 starters, but its hard to justify the prices of keeping a bunch of psa 10s like that in a case to look pretty when you can sell it and buy multiple cards of each and do it all over again. Espically cards like raichu and groudon that are over 300 dollars each and your into them for like 40 bucks total in psa 10s. The money can just be used smarter in other places.
Absolutely !!! Congrats on your return by the way, feels great to cash out! I still have ALL of my 151 pulls as far as SIR go. I’m definitely considering selling them all at the moment… ugh.. need cash for nicer cards or a new home for the growing family… and the prices seem high right now 🤷🏻♀️
Operation PSA 9 Base -> Challenge: Picked up card #7/104. Not the most exciting card but needed to complete the goal. Rainbow Energy (Team Rocket). Looking forward to seeing what this card looks in person. Never seen one of these in the flesh!
Really think it through if you want to get slabs of all these cards haha that’s gonna take up a lot of space brother take it from someone who’s working on binders of every set practically it’s so many to keep track of… at the same time, congrats on another pickup!! Just know storing these in binders raw will be potentially cheaper and easier on storage! I’m a big binder fan even though I talk about slabs. 😎
I am only getting the Holo Rare’s in PSA 9. I have a Slab case that will fit them all perfectly. The non foil rare’s, uncommons, and commons are all going raw in a binder. Slowly but surely I plan to meet this goal! I have most of the raw cards already just slowly building all PSA 9s I can find for
I’m selling most of my vintage collection for a couple reasons. 1: I do believe that prices in the long term will only trend downwards. These prices(mainly vintage) just are not sustainable imo. Look at any other hobby that is similar to Pokémon. Jordan’s , Foams, Supreme/Bape, Nike Sbs, etc… they have all sort of died down. Still expensive but definitely much less. Mainly for vintage. 2: Why do I even collect these things? What value does Pokémon cards bring to my life? The answer is 0. I think that I saw the dollar signs, and I bought into the hype. If it wasn’t Pokémon it would probably be something else, but hopefully I’m done with the materialism. 3: Since I believe that the long term market will only go down, I might as well sell now where at the bare minimum I break even but most likely make like 13%.

I think there’s a ton of truth in this comment that others can learn from and everyone should ask what the hobby truly does for them? For me I’m hoping collecting will balance out as I become a more experienced seller as well. In the end it is all kind of unsustainable modern prices on cards are passing the thousands even though cards like giratina and Umbreon with 10k plus pop on top of that there’s black label versions fetching thousands so they both have gotten quite expensive I will say. I experienced what your talking about with sneakers and have learned my lesson 😎
The problem you have is big money has entered into the hobby so a lot of the more established items now have floors. Basically owners of these cards will bid up and even buy multiple copies to sustain a certain price point because they can and it's in their best interest. Plenty of vintage isn't expensive either, you're just looking at the wrong things. For example, gold stars are in a bubble, no way would I be purchasing those cards right now, maybe they continue to go up but I'm out. 1st edition base is ridiculously cheap when looking outside of the main chase cards. Jungle is peanuts for it's age, same goes with fossil. I believe you feel this way because you're solely concentrating on what everybody else is. There are plenty of deals to be had and I for one will be here to snap them up.
There’s almost 0% that nominal prices of top flight mint Pokemon collectibles won’t go up. It’s a question of whether it goes up in real $$, accounting for inflation. IMO, it has as good a chance as anything else discretionary to beat out.
@@simianpress only time will tell. I will say though, Pokémon TCG has only been growing and the games kind of have as well.
People are gonna lose their butts on the sword and shields alts. The prices won’t last. Too many on the market. You can’t go nowhere without seeing somebody having them for sell. Even the boxes won’t be that much in value. It will take a very long time due to how much was printed and also so many people has put these boxes up for long term unlike back in the day. Totally different scenario from back then to now. I don’t see it. Plus also everybody talks about investing so alot of people are doing that. People gonna be holding onto this stuff for a long long time before it gets crazy value I think.
Also I’m not selling anything. I love my collection to much. I’m just not a seller unless I just have a bunch of doubles but then again I like having multiple of cards 😂
Yes I do feel like everything has to come back down.. naturally but who knows.. maybe most of its been opened because of the pull rates and how cheap they were maybe they got ripped mostly and we just don’t realize it.. that’s the only other way sealed could continue to climb at this pace 😎
