Let us immerse ourselves in the intriguing story of Mister Marcel, he was a businessman, a father of three, and a loving husband! His life began in the bustling city center of Zurich, where he grew up and later took over the family business. The family business was a plaster shop for many generations. Marcel completely transformed it and turned it into a specialized plaster manufacturing company, and became prosperous in the process. But Marcel had a bigger dream. At the age of 50, he was ready to fulfill it. He sold his business and moved away from the bustling city center of Zurich to the peaceful French countryside. His dream was to convert a French manor into his dream estate. He found the property he was looking for, and he transformed it into a masterpiece using all the skills and knowledge he had accumulated over the years. Their children slowly moved out to the big cities seeking opportunities, while Marcel and his wife remained inside the manor until the final years of their lives. His beloved wife passed first, and he lived on the estate alone until in 2013 his dream was left behind forever. Unfortunately, his children are unable to reach an agreement on how to divide the massive property and its contents. They have been in a lawsuit for years and are thus not allowed to enter the Manor.
Allow us to take you inside the walls of this unique property and show you what has been left inside.

You are trespassing on private property.
Disgusting that greed and stubbornness have reduced this grand old lady into a crumbling decaying skeleton. They would rather see it rot than compromise.
It is a shame the kids are letting this fabulous home run down.
I agree Debbie…
Rich people don't care
Sayang banget rumah semewah itu dibiarkan terbengkalai begitu saja kayaknya gak jauh dari situ masih ada rumah apa kosong juga rumah itu bang?
@@ditaaulia5741q in n za
yeah im also agree.what a nice place..
It breaks my heart every time I see such magnificence left to rot. 😢
So sad his dream is tainted by the disharmony of his loved ones not being able to agree. What a beautifully peaceful abode. ☮🖤☯️✌🌻🌼🦋
Yes it got me very sad aswell, whenever money is involved people get greedy…
I too agree. It is sad that noone would finish his vision of the beautiful home that is and could still be.
@@BrosOfDecay truth....love of money is the root of evil. Connections, good health, grattitude and love matters over the material. We cannot take it with us.. I am glad he enjoyed it while he could, even if it caused a rift eventually. The logic of peoples choices and depth of greed now adays is beyond questionable or logic. 🤯 But then I am sure I live in a reality with a mindset that is very different to the norm. 😄🌻✌☮💜☯️🌼
@@deb0523ful yes, his legacy and vision could be shared and past down to his family and great memories shared and made. I guess many lack that sort of vision, when they are blinded by greed and ill intent. Which is probably why they are at a stale mate. I imagine it would take some money to bring it back, maintain and keep it running. And we live in very different times.... When I get my will sorted I am leaving everything to my cats. And who ever takes them on and looks after them will get any money I have. 😄🐱☮💜☯️🌻✌
@@heartofanempress Cats give endless love . It probably would take a lot of money but it would be a wonderful project indeed. People now days just do not appreciate what it took to live the old ways and really see and give the love to things that dreams are made from. Shame
Its sad when the kids cant come to an agreement. Beautiful places like these always pay the ultimate price and they end up with less. This man was gifted to have the knowledge and skills to have created such a beautiful home. Very nice explore. Stay safe xx
Que hermoso lugar lo mejor para vos siempre y seguí así desde Argentina lo mejor para vos y familia felicitaciones
What a shame to see this extraordinary mansion has Been left to waste away. These countries have so many wasting away beautiful properties. Dosent the government care about these historical homes.
Just an amazing place! Just can imagine how beautiful it was in its prime!! Such a shame the children are tied up in lawsuits and can't just come to an agreement and enjoy the place instead of letting it rot. I feel that in situations such as this, the judge should just have everything sold and divided.
I always appreciate your deep respect for the homes and those who lived there. You are so young and so full of respect and gentleness for the histories . It makes watching these a sheer pleasure.
"Gentleness for the histories". Please, please tell me how he finds the histories by merely walking through the house. Shit, he even knows if the children just abandoned the place for the "city"). I have yet to see him source ANYTHING.
@@jab2780 I would imagine he speaks to the locals about the former occupants. In France, in areas like this, especially with huge properties, everybody knows everything about everyone who lives there. Heck, I lived in MARYLAND, and any one of my neighbors could tell you everything about everyone, including their children. Not to mention, the local courts and magistrates have easily accessible information about everything, there.
@@redadamearth I think he tries to be unseen. And likely can't speak the local language. I think he's the worst for inventing stories and his sanctimonious attitude.
@@jab2780 ......
Inventing the story may be the only thing he can do especially if he cannot speak the local language. The background history may not be easy to find. Sometimes even the hall of records has no information on a property. If you could do better then do so......
You dont have to be so critical. He does the best he can with what info he can manage to gather.
@@lindatimmons3675 There's no need to invent anything or think he's doing something for the owners or anything above trespassing and likely stealing. If I was doing this, I would engage the local government and see what they are doing about. If they don't want to. Fine. But don't pretend you're welcomed or special.
Love all the antiques in that mansion! Beautiful its a shame someone hasn't redid the whole thing
THANK YOU! Such a beautiful place. I like the beauty of the Decay but I feel the sadness of the loss. You did a great job! I am concerned for your safety when you're in a place like this alone. I'm sure you tell people where you're going so that if you don't show up they know where to look. Much love! I would be a happy woman to live here and have the money to fix this up!
Hey Gomez, thank you for the concerns on me, I always let someone know where I am and how they can find me 😊
@@BrosOfDecay I'm very confident that you do the right thing. You're smarter than most people. I am a mother even though my boys have passed. My name is obviously not Gomez. It's just the name I used to have a little bit of privacy. It's good to see that you've kept this up and that it is turned into something so wonderful and beautiful. I remember your very beginnings. We've kind of got to watch you grow up it's beautiful. Just be safe and keep showing us these wonderful places!
Thank you.💜🤗🌱
@@gomezaddams6470 I love your pseudonym -- and I'm sure the other "Gomez Addams" would heartily second your comment on "the beauty of decay". Couldn't help thinking that he and Morticia Addams would feel right at home in this place, and would be fans of the Bros of Decay series.

It's not the structures or the land that makes abandoned places intriguingly addicting to explore. It's the curiosity of how others lived in the past. I love your videos. Kudos from Patty Z in Phx.
My thought exactly.
What a beautiful place Leslie. It is not only a shame the house is starting to really fall apart, but there are so many pieces of magnificent furniture. You can tell the owners were not French because most French manors and castles have religious articles in each room. Fantastic find.
Hey Terri, actually such a sad sight… I hope someone comes and takes care of this wonderful place!
Such a shame how greed divides A family. They should at least donate the home and have it used to help people. Looks like they just dropped everything and left but it's only the beginning.
The present owners of all these abandoned houses should donate all books to libraries. Some of them must be valuable. I always wonder what the edition year might be.
Please don't go to these places alone. It's always best to travel in a group in case something happens the other can get help. It's too bad this place has deteriorated so much. I hope the family comes to an understanding so they don't lose out on their heritage. I'm no expert but I believe some of the furniture is very old and maybe valuable. They really need to save it from being destroyed.
С чего вы думаете что он ,уж точно не один ведь кто снимает всё это.
Amazing work you are doing out there and I love them so much. But please don't go to these places alone.
"... in case something happens..." for example- being caught trespassing!
I could tell it was once very lovely, the rooms that were finished before water damage. So, if they would have stayed they would have made it lovelier. What a shame. You are one of my favorite host of touring abandoned homes. Because you are attractive and respectful of your surroundings. Also respect in your voice and kind eyes. Thank you again for a wonderful tour. Oh and I like it when your hosting alone. Not to much noise and the focus is better on things.
Leslie that Chateau was beautiful! So many things left untouched. Bravo! And again, another great exploration.🥰
Hey Lesley! Good evening! This episode is going to be amazing, because mansions always hold a lot of mysteries and I'm looking forward to hearing the history of the people who lived in this mansion. Thanks for bringing us fantastic episodes. Your work is wonderful.I love this channel!!!!!
Same here, hey Celia how are you doing with your family I do hope you’re safe from the virus?
Shame on the kids!! Greed!! You did a wonderful job on this!
It may have been that some wanted to preserve it, but couldn't afford to buy out those who needed their inheritance for their children's education or to save their own livelihood. Anybody who watches restoration videos knows how unpredictable and how financially draining it can be. It's sad that they couldn't find a solution that worked for everyone.
Financial self-interest where the survival of this house is of secondary importance, who knows?!!!
What a beautiful mansion. It really is too bad that the kids cannot agree. Maybe they will before it gets worse. Thanks again Leslie for the wonderful narrative that you always do. I can't wait for the next adventure.
It’s hard to believe the house could deteriorate into this state in just 10 years!
Once in a while, a manor that you explore makes me feel kind of melancholy. This house was special. I wish the kids could have compromised 9 years ago. I love looking into the attic it's high sloping roof. I had such a sense of peace while you were going from room to room. You did a fantastic job on this exploration. Thank you for sharing. Sincerely, Carly
That's how I felt when I watched this video
Beautiful place!!! At 19:56, you called it a cabinet (in the dining room/living room) we call it a buffet. Reason is because the food could be set on there in lieu of the table. It would leave mire room on the table like if you had a couple extra guests.
The mirror in that bedroom next to the front entrance appears to be Murano glass, from Venice. If it is, it was very expensive.
Maybe the larger square pillow on the colorful bedroom bed was where a little dog would sleep.
👋 hello Lesley ❤️ Looking forward to seeing this beautiful castle 🏰
Hi Carey missed the vidio just watched it saw you their hope your well much lv Ann uk ❤️❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
@@annsmith4739 I'm doing well. Thank you. Are you doing well? Wasn't incredible documentary! :)
Same here so nice watching this here. Hi Carey how are you doing?
Well it looks like sometimes windows are left open by others and he leaves them open anyway. I’d be shutting and locking everything up! Help slow down deterioration and moisture build up. Kind of seems like a no brain’er!
I am enthralled with the way you allow the space to envelop you… The way you so eloquently whisper in
Accented reverence…❤
Hello, happy new year to you 🎉
Everyone will lose in the end As all of their parents belongings will be lost and are just about destroyed right now. The government appears to be the one who will come out in the end with it all
Great job, Lesley. I like the solo style too! Less confusion and chatter, though sometimes other explorers add to it. I believe you are the most detailed of all of them...and you create scenarios that make it all come back to life! I hope you will continue with your meditation channel too!
Watching from South Africa and it's absolutely fantastic....so many memories left behind in these time capsules. It is sad to see so many beautiful antiques just left in time and being destroyed. The way you talk is very therapeutic, and going through these abandoned places with you takes me back in time and I do see it in my mind like it was in it's real glory. Love your videos, and thank you for sharing it with us.❤
Do you ever get curious after visiting a place to research and see if a rescue has happened or may be in the process? We are all simply stewards of whatever properties we may “own,” and your adding to the unique and personal narratives of these dwellings is a very positive contribution to OUR world. Thanks so much! And let us know when a family member steps up and keeps your Grandfather Jamal’s place in the family!
Very nice showing of this old house ! It surprises me how huge many of these mansions are ! I would get lost in them ! Thanks fir showing this house 🏡 to us !! Or mansion it would take you about ten minutes to go through mine ! Lol
Same here very nice watching this wonderful old mansion videos, hi Gwen how are you doing with your family I do hope you’re safe from the virus?
Am so surpprised how everything on thee table outside stayed upright nd alright with winds that blow etc.
So interesting to see how they lived.
The toilets must have fallen apart alot? lol
Absolutely beautful to see this mansion ..thank you Lesley!
I know what you mean about not wanting to feel confined by others as you look around. Even the best of friends can unintentionally rush you or influence what you film. You can concentrate on what interests you alone and take your time. That said, oh do be so careful!! I'm so afraid of you falling through some floor and no one knowing you are in need of help. I know you know and take the utmost precautions, but I had to say it LOL. Thanks for another great explore and for our kiss at the end
❤Amazing tour. As an avid book reader I have to say I got super excited seeing the books. I appreciate how much respect you have for the property and possessions. Thank you for sharing.
Oh wow…what a fabulous home.
Hello, happy New Years to you 🎉
You do awesome videos but be careful doing them on your own because anything can happen and who would know

Bitte mach weiter so tolle Filme.
Liebe Grüsse Brigit 🍀
I must give you props… for your work. I can’t do it. I’m scared of the dark never mind exploring in unique properties like these. Thank you for bringing this to us.
Hello Leslie, thanks for another wonderful explore! I would be so grateful if I inherited any one of these abandoned places. And for those who do inherit these beautiful places and they do nothing but let them rot really breaks my heart. I would give anything to just be able to restore and help those who do not have a place to live. Here in the United States, we have a problem with homelessness and some places it’s worse than others. So just to think how awesome it would be for everyone to have a roof over their head and not worry. I just can’t understand why the government doesn’t step in to help fix some of these places and help the homeless!! Someday everyone will have a home and not have to worry about taxes or anything else. Just be happy and live forever!! Before you know it everyone will feel safe no matter where they are.!! GOD doesn’t break his promises!! Have a wonderful explore on your next adventure.
Your friend,
Bonnie
P.S.
my mother was born in Germany, and met my father when he was a soldier in the army. And they got married in Germany then my mother came to the USA. Never went back. I have to older sisters. My dad,mom and older sister passed away. It’s just my sister and I who are still alive. So thanks for taking me with you on your journeys.!!!😉
Hey, in the USA, the government is scared about being sued instead of keeping a roof, hot meal, and a daily shower over someone's head. Praying for you and your sister.
Wow, dear Lesley, what a breathtakingly impressive manoir again! - It's every time so amazing to see another of these historical
châteaus and manoirs. France seems to be an absolutely inexhaustible source for finding more and phantastic buildings, - all
of course due to their long history with kingdom and nobility. - What fascinates me in reference to your manoir, you are going to present
this evening, is of course also this connection of the last owner, he had to Zurich. - I only sincerely hope to be able to watch your
video this evening, because I am right now still not completely fit, and my recovery apparently takes some more time. It really sucks a lot!
Wishing you all the best, many hugs, peace and kindest regards.
Hey Willy! I'm sick as hell right now too! I'm pretty excited to see this, if I have to be stuck in bed feeling awful I might as well be watching something nice. I hope you are able to make a full recovery, my friend.😘😘
@@ruthbancroft7016 , Oh dear, I am very sorry to hear that! I at least hope, you had now some fun with our lovely explorer.
I was finally caught approximately a week ago by a corona infection. Where - I have no idea! It's so damn unfair,
because I am double vaccinated and boostered. At least the effects were not too hard, because it felt like a classical
flu with fever, caugh, rhume and sore throat, and I was and still am very tired. Also I was a lot in bed, but I am now
slowly recovering. - So I really wish you also a full recovery of your illness.
Stay safe and take care! - Kindest blessings, peace and kindest regards.
@Willy Egger sending you prayers for quick recovery . Greetings from Alabama , US!
@@careyh38 , Hey Carey H., Thank you so very much! That's so touching. I am already much better than last week. Wishing you also all the best, peace and kindest regards.
I do hope that the children see this video and actually make efforts to get along together and get the place put back in order and make the place livable again!!!😊🙏
Absolutely love that you show us the details of wall paper and tiles, your appreciation truly shows and reminds us of bygone eras! And even if your speculations aren't always known to be correct, they tell lovely stories. Just love you and your videos! God bless
Just rotting away. So sad.
Before I watch the exploration, I would like to say that when you explore alone, just like Maureno you're not distracted and you see more. It seems like much more detail is given and more time is spent investigating the place that you are exploring and I get a whole lot more out of it! Thank you all very much!❤
Hi Lesley, first of all Gorgeous Manor!! 🤩Now seeing the RV 🚐...there is 2 beds...the kitchen table goes down & the cushions are laid 4 in a row for someone to put a sheet on & pillows & blanket, then the bed at the top where again you dress with sheet, pillows & blanket! We use to own a Camping Trailer same idea! When you talked about parents & 3 siblings, the children are adults & move out to a bigger city..but parents probably had a Document that showed the 3 siblings to divide all the stuff inside the Manor! But the 3 Siblings were fighting against each other for the stuff in the Manor...which is GREED!! Now as years go by from 2013, everything is decaying & soon Nothing will be left for Any of the 3 siblings! What should be saved is the beds, furniture, pictures, books, lamps!! Ok, Lesley...I love the Arched Doorways!! As for bedrooms, the pink one is my favorite, which I believe was the parents room-downstairs, then upstairs the yellow the bed was either turned or a different wall of that room-1 sibling, & upstairs red room was pretty also, this would be 2 sibling-pretty peacock wallpaper & knit or crocheting picture, then upstairs the small bed must have been the youngest sibling number 3 sibling! The balcony that was very large had 2 satellite`s a new version for cable tv! Now you said, why do people Not put up wallpaper & just paint...the reason is wallpaper is a lot of work on putting it up, & if it gets worn or dirty, it is hard work taking it off & then again hard work putting it up...especially if the glue dries quickly on backside of wallpaper!!
Now you call Lanterns...is really Lamps next to beds, lanterns are usually outside or to be carried with a person to have light where you walk...if its too dark to see...no lights or electricity went out!! Take care & stay safe, Love from Central Illinois!!😊❤
What a nice comment I find it interesting to watch like the 2 beds, hi barb how are you doing with your family I do hope you’re safe from the virus?

What a beautiful mansion. You can tell that he put a lot of work into it. Stay safe 👌 👍 🙏 ❤ 💓 💙
Love the video. Please be safe. You should have a partner. Do you remember in one video, when your camera person stepped on a tarp and almost went through a hole in the floor?
It's sad to see such beauty go to waste and not be repurposed or loved thank you for sharing this at least we get to enjoy its beauty through you
Well done! I especially liked the beautiful second floor woman's bedroom. (34:10) How touching that whoever made the bed, and carefully arranged the pillows for the last time, also laid a rose on the endtable - perhaps in her memory. Judging from the beautiful wallpaper, she obviously loved roses.
Stay safe. Let someone know where you are going . I enjoy looking around abandoned houses with you.

Love this place. Thank you for showing it to us. I would love to have this place as my own. Such history ❤
This constantly reminds us that when people die, you can not bring anything with you. So parents have to prepare division of properties while they are still alive, or if you have 2 children, have properties that you can equally divide.

Woow very good home...👍👍👍
I was very angry at the selfishness of the 3 children that couldn't come to an agreement so their parents labor of love fell to ruins. Their father put so much love into building a beautiful home for his family. They could have sold it and split it 3 ways. Or better yet they could have finished it to become a bed and breakfast before letting it fall to ruins and now have nothing. Death brings out the selfishness of family members. I've seen it happen firsthand.
Wow, so so sad! That house would have made a perfect B&B
To serve meals made with fresh vegetables out of the garden and put chickens back on the property. The pond, oh the pond all cleaned up and stocked for customer fishing! What a crying shame... I love to hear your stories!

Love watching your videos, the places you go and we get to join in and see so many different places. Seems you have a genuine care for these places and protecting them more than the families. I’d be afraid to go alone, squatters, wild animals or weak timber’s. I can easily see you owning one of these places one day and restoring it beautifully! God bless!

The large bathtub is similar to one's used for people with mobility issues. They can step in through the side or be lowered in with a lift.
Leslie this was an amazing place to explore, thanks for sharing this beautiful video with us.😊
Hey Lesley This was a great episode, however I don’t like you exploring by yourself. In case of emergency you would be SOL! You didn’t have a mask on with all that mold in there. OK the mother in me and the grandmother and me has spoke her peace. It was lovely to see the bedrooms were beautiful. Love the beds and the wallpaper. The staircase was lovely. The kids better hurry up and get their act together before the place falls into total disrepair and unsavable. Thank you so much. Love from California💜😎🤟🏻🇺🇸
This place must be protected with all their things..it is the result of a dream. And dreams like this must be protected. There is love inside there..
Leslie, I simply love the way you talk and the respect you have for all these things left behind from someone who probably is no longer with us. you are a very kind and nice young man!
Isn't there a homesteading law in some states where if you moving to a house like that and live in there for 7 years that it is yours legally. I wonder why someone hasn't done that
Love your exploration ….. feel 2 people make it safer …….. another great find ……. Thank You …… stay safe on your journeys
Hello Leslie, very interesting tour. That book you flipped through by Max Bauer Edelsteinkunde is from 1896
Keep up the good work
Beautiful big home , abandoned only nine years ago or so? I agree .. Before the house is ready to be bulldozed it should have been sold nine years ago and the kids split the proceeds. Oh well, now the bulldozer is on the way. I can imagine that back in the day that would have been a grand home full of kids and company visiting. Shame. Thank you Leslie.
Great video. Nothing like the greed of siblings fighting over an estate - all their parents hard work is rotting away. Only lawyers win in this scenario. Their parents must be shaking their heads in disappointment.
You know, it's truly amazing to see all of these things left behind. However, it does make me wonder why they never gave some of these things away, before death. So many things could have been given away or sold. I understand if it was sudden death. But that is not always the case.
Blessings 🌻🦋
beautiful Lesley merci👍❤😘
Great video!👍
