  • Today on our 9-month Royal Caribbean world cruise we take a wine tour in Hunter Valley. The Newcastle Australia Hunter Valley wine region is amazing! Hunter Valley This is a huge region for wine and wine tours in Australia and it did not disappoint. We thought we could stary here for days. We tried wine at 3 different cellar doors, that’s what they call wine tasting rooms in Australia. They were all very good and very different experiences.

The Hunter Valley is the original wine-growing area in Australia. If you ever have another trip to Australia and come to this region you really need to visit Port Stephens and Lake Macquarie both are very close to Newcastle. Nice video bad luck with the visit to the Hunter, better luck next time

I’m so glad you liked the hunter valley in nsw. I grew up there and there are 100s of vineyards. Most are very small and boutique. But I also love Morpeth. Such a quaint little town. It was the hub of the local area back in the 1800s. It does flood during winters because it is on the connection of 2 rivers - the Williams and the Hunter rivers. So glad you enjoyed your time in my neck of the woods! ❤️❤️❤️

There over 140 wineries in the Hunter, so you have a lot more to see there. Another place to see wineries is the country town of Mudgee which has about 40. South Australia has the Barossa Valley. So glad you have enjoyed our country. Come again soon, but spend more time here next time. There is so much to see of our country. Enjoy the rest of your cruise.

Hi Mike & Nancy. Im so glad you were able to get to taste of Australian wines and what we produce.
However, I recommend that you travel to South Australia (the next time you visit) and its wine regions. Here in South Australia, we have the Barossa Valley, which is just north of the city, with its world-famous wineries, such Penfolds and Wolf Blass, just south of the city we have the McLaren Valley with it wineries and unique cellar doors. One I would recommend is the D'adeberg winery, the building is a glass cube shape design with a great restaurant.
Also the national wine centre is located in the heart of city. There, you can get an overall exposure to the wine producers of Australia. The best thing about this place is that it's shaped like a wine barrel and sample the different wines from different areas.
If you are travelling back to Australia and are going to visit South Australia, I'll be happy to show you around the different areas.
Thank you for showing us your adventures on board the world cruise

It was on our trip to the Hunter Valley years ago that we encountered the first "roadkill" kangaroo ! That was rather shocking, but the guide says it happens all the time! We love wine tasting and thoroughly enjoyed the Hunter valley! By the way, Semillon is pronounced SEM ee on. Oh I'm so excited to see your stop in Brisbane! We also went to the Koala preserve there - unforgettable! Hopefully you guys stopped in Port Douglas (or thereabouts). I'm a Sydneysider and HV is my favourite place for a weekend away. We were fortunate to be up there a couple of weeks ago to see James Taylor live at Bimbadgen, one of the great wineries. What a a treat. Live concerts are a huge draw card for the region. Sounds to me like they tried to cram too much into one day on your tour. Sometimes less is more. We've done a couple of wine tours in different regions, and after 3 wineries you def start to flag. Happy travels.

You can hold a koala. I live in Perth WA and we have several parks that you can pay to hold a koala 🐨. They are very friendly but they do have sharp claws. I was on a school trip (parent helper) and a koala was acting up. The staff told me he was a young male and it was mating season. They vocalised a lot and don’t like to be handled, especially with female koala’s around.
