I'm still using the band ruler. I found a taper I like, but I want to try out some more before investing in a template. I got my band set making down to a routine where everything is measured, counted, wrapped, and tied the same way every time. Trying to eliminate some of the variables lol/

I always heard you dont want to press to hard cause it has the rubber squishing but you already have it pressed down hard with the template

Set it up diagonally. That helps me reach all the way over. I also focus on holding down the strip I am cutting not the whole board.

So I shoot 8mm and have been getting the pre-made bands from simple shot but have been wanting to make my own and buy the latex in bulk. What taper do you recommend with that size ammo? And should I take my size of latex down from .7 to .6 mm ?

I shoot 8mm, and I usually shoot .4 or .5. I used to shoot .6 often, but I found that I like it better with 9.5mm. I would try .5 and get a taper ruler so you can adjust and experiment with different tapers. Half of the fun is experimenting.
