Thank God NEMA declared that the houses were far beyond the riparian land and were within the requirements of the environment, the only challenge was that the river would swell incase of heavy rains so the developer was requested to reinforce the area to avoid flooding so the owners had nothing to worry about the developer was compliant with all the regulations and there was no need to demolish the houses
This is how corruption and non accountability affects us! It starts from the top and with us.... sad.
This guys should be compensated period.
Give these honest people money according to the current rate. This is big investment for these families. DON'T DESTROY FAMILIES. THIS BREAK MY HEART. I AM SICK OF THIS COUNTRY.
once a groups of houses built in particular area experience flooding , their market value significantly drops and no mortgage lender and insurer will touch them.
Just start by going after the NEMA person who signed off on the properties.. Why did they approve then later say the property is on riparian land..
To make money. Why else do you think they always do this kind of crazy?
It’s 2024!!!!!!.History repeating itself
Crazy!! Around 2000 the land here costed under 1million for 3 acres!! Now is these 50x100 going for multimillions! Greed with developers pushed these investors into a river bank! Sad
Have u now seen WHY Billionaires in Kenya and from foreign countries don't want anything to do with investing in properties in this country or even living here? Government issues like this.Simple but un attended, that is a very sad story there btw
Did these houses get demolished? Who knows how this ended?
The fair thing to do for everyone caught in this mess I don’t trust the business owners in downtown cities BUT residential owners and those with legit title deeds MUST be compensated and land reclaimed
So wrong someone needs to take responsibility. This is craziness
The Landlord said he assumed?
This is so sad...
I feel sorry for that old gentleman, this is my neighborhood, this is sad. people wake up, its becoming too much now
They should move the river.
Waititu wewe

In April 2024 the history is repeating it self
The reporter looks like Babu Owino

people should be honest about the business they do
haraka haraka tokeni....we need to break these houses
As your name suggests....wewe ni mchafu hadi akili.

THE AUTHORITIES SHOULD REROUTE THE RIVER
