Ah !! Cape Cod!!!
My dear aunt and uncle had lived there and I have had many a lovely vacation at ‘The Cape ’ . How fortunate your sister was to experience it. New England states are gorgeous.
Great books of interest . Good to hear your reviews again. You are very
Well- read, Vivi . Lol- “off of” -I agree! Obnoxious. Beautiful fabrics book . I was gifted a William Morris picture book of his fabrics , oh , years ago , As well …thank you for this . I enjoyed listening . ❤xxx
Thank you lovely. 😊
I’m quilting as I listen and so agree with you about the pleasure of picture books. My favourites are Kaffe Fassett’s books, I’ve been lucky enough to buy some of them second hand and they are a feast for the eyes. Every now and then I treat myself to a fat quarter of fabric from the Kaffe Fassett Collective, it never fails to lift my spirits. 🥰
Oooh, lovely! 😊
Good Morning Vivi, Happy to see another book review. I love them!
It's Friday! It's a Vivi vid and a lovely way to start the weekend 😃
Cheers lovely....have a good 'un! 😊
@@WhatVivididnext You too 🙂
Oh, Cod sounds like a wonderful book that my dad and I would both enjoy! I'll definitely add that to my library list.
I've heard really great things about The Secret Shore. I think you might like it as well. It's based around WW II in Cornwall. It does have a little bit of romance. However, the author Liz Fenwick puts great emphasis on the importance of women and their jobs during the war. I hear it's a really good book. I thought I'd mention it to you.
Cheers lovely. 😊
I am so glad that you liked Szymborska. I think there is a poem in this collection called 'A Cat in an Empty Apartment/Flat'. I personally think it's the most powerful text about mourning ever written. The essence in a few words. Szymborska wrote it after the death of her long-term partner. I cry every time at this text, and I don't cry very often. But those are good tears, because mourning or loneliness are shared experiences - we all feel them sometimes. Hugs Vivi, thank you for today's episode.
Oh I shall have a look at that one next. Thank you so much for putting this treasure in my hands......I have been thoroughly enjoying having my little dips in it. ❤️
I just read it.......so beautiful, so very sad. Gosh it made my eyes fill. X
My friend and I are house sitting in Ireland in September and we have decided to do a book club while we are away. Great upload Vivi ❤
Oooh, have fun. 😊
🥰👍
You look so lovely with your hair in bunches xx
I can highly recommend The Big Oyster: A Molluscular History of New York by Mark Kurlansky. It's not a subject or location I ever thought I would have any interest in, and yet this book was absolutely fascinating. I've added both Cod and Salt to my wishlist.
Whenever you are filming in front of your bookshelves I find myself checking out the books I can see. It's amazing how many I can see that are either on my own shelves or I have borrowed from my local library.
Poems are meant to be felt, not necessarily understood 🥰
Hear, hear re poems! Hmm, I'll add The Big Oyster to my 'look out for' list. Thank you for that. 😊
💖💖💖
In port seaton Scotland fishermen go out to fish and sell them in their shop and there were fishing communities in the past
Going to have to keep my eyes open for the Toiles De Jouy book (pronounced j'oui btw 😉) I read the Cod book many moons ago, may have to revisit that one too. I love your eclectic tastes Mrs! x
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
🐟Thank You So Much Vivi!!!🐟
My family were part of the cod fishery in a remote area of the Southern coast (Francois if you want to Google it) of Newfoundland. My Great Uncle’s nickname was the Codfather. He always knew if a restaurant tried to pass off another fish as cod. I have pictures of them tethering the old schooners to the rocks to turn them on their side in order for them to remove the barnacles. I actually did a major thesis on the decline of the outports culture and the inshore fishery. Anybody with my maiden name has family ties from there.
What great family history. 😊
@@WhatVivididnextI also love poetry
Mark Kurlansky also wrote Salt, which I enjoyed much more than Cod. Much more of a world ethnography/history on how salt shaped societies and empires.
Since I read Cod I've been on the look out for Salt. Looking forward to it. 😊
Vivi…there is a channel, “Journey to the Chateau”. One of the gentlemen designs Toiles de Jouy. Quite lovely patterns. Kind regards as you continue on your path. 🙂
Ooooh, lovely. 😊

Ok, it’s been weeks and weeks since you cleaned your books and rearranged your book case, and I’ve tried to restrain myself from moaning about something….but…..I miss seeing your lovely pastel set of Virginia Woolf books! Please bring ‘em back! Let me have something to drool over 😂
Thanks for the book reviews Vivi. Hope you managed to complete the new computer set up and all is well? Hot as hades here right now but should cool down by next week. I have started a new EPP quilt! Crazy I know but I love hand stitching when I watch my shows. À la prochaine. 😘
Scorchio here too........too humid to sew (hahaha, sweat dripping on fabric isn't great!).....I'm loving it, for now...... The PC still needs a few tweaks but I am definitely winning - woohoo!
Lovely book review.. had it on to listen to as I sorted my closet .. doing a through sort and trash or donate … but now I am going through my head how often I have said off and off of … ❤
Hahaha...... a different sort of ear worm! 😉
