    The best way to start my day! The number 5 in my top 10 of Babymetal. Good react again girls. See you at the next, Megitsunes!

    ⚡ 💀 💕 / 🏃‍♀👹
    While Megitsune is still my favorite, I think this has one of their cutest choreographies.
    If the whole concept works because of the contrast between the cuteness and the brutal metal, this song has both turned up to eleven.
    It's a shame this hasn't been performed since 2017.
    The last time I saw this song live was in Chula Vista, CA on Yui's 18th birthday, when BABYMETAL were touring with Korn.

    These were the best days with these young girls performing in front of huge crowds it was great. Once Yui left I sort of lost interest and they were less metal anyway but they were great and I have great memories of them growing up and and being successful all over the world it was great.

      what exactly do you mean by "they were less metal"

    • @stephenchigwidden7504
      @stephenchigwidden7504 Před 2 lety +2

      @@Death2Dust well they started doing all sorts of stuff that was pretty abstract. There was a sort of river dance thing and while I didn't mind Shanti Shanti Shanti I still wanted more Yava,Headbanger,Give me chocolate. Kingslayer was good MXwhatever it was left me cold. Almost everything they did after Yui left I didn't like. Including the uniforms. Iff they were going to bring in other girls especially girls that we know can sing they should have been allowed to sing. I miss the earlier days it was a lot of fun.

    Nice reaction. 'Catch Me If You Can' is the best metal song about playing a game that's a sort of cross between tag, blind man's bluff and hide & seek I've ever heard. It is the perfect mix of the two extremes with the brutal instrumentals and the sweet vocals - and the game they are playing, they're playing with an Oni (a sort of Japanese ogre).
    The growling vocals (they are on a backing track) are the Oni asking things like "Are you ready?" and the best response has to be "Maada da yo" (No, not yet) while doing a running away from an Oni dance.
    The audio for this video was taken from the performance at the Budokan in Tokyo in 2014. There is a full video for that performance on YT, so if you wanted to you could see who was really playing the solos at the beginning and you can see all of the choreo without the confusing visuals jumping from one show to another and all the changes of costume.

    I can see you've been reacting to Japanese bands lately. Babymetal is an interesting band, actually two bands. Kami Band are true instrument virtuosos.
    However, the biggest Japanese rock band X Japan has never been on your channel. It is a legend and a Japanese band that has probably made the greatest career in the world. Drummer Yoshiki is considered the most influential person in Japanese music in general. In addition to drums, he is also a composer, pianist, producer, ... He played his compositions on the piano at Carnegie Hall, he composed for the Emperor of Japan at the request of the Japanese government. Over the years of completely crazy playing the drums, he damaged his neck and had to undergo surgery, so in newer recordings he plays in such a collar. It is worth reading more about him. And X Japan did a show no less than AC / DC, KISS, Maetallica, ... And this is the amazing (the best in the world (Deep Purple - Made in Japan)) audience, crazy reaction. The song Kurenai (Yoshiki's composition) is also one of the greatest Japanese classics.

    This was my very first BABYMETAL song and got me hooked from the first moment.
    Unfortunately the video you chose is the worst compilation video ever made. It has almost all the things I don't like on a compilation video: it totally butchers the solos, constant indoor/outdoor changes, the use of fancams... At least, the sound track is from an actual live performance :)

    With my poor knowledge about 'Oni' and poor English skills, it is pretty difficult in proper way and I am not sure a little bit how to explain Japanese '鬼、おに、オニ (Oni)' to your foreigners... huh.. Originally, it is 'Yokai (妖怪、monster)' that appears in old Japanese folk tales and local beliefs, unrelated to the introduction of Buddhism. The common Oni is a large man with two or one horn on his head, finely-trimmed hair, fangs in his mouth, sharp claws on his fingers, wearing a loincloth or loincloth made of tiger skin, and holding a metal rod with a protruding surface. They attack humans and sometimes eat humans. In Buddhism, they are like the guardians or punishers of '地獄 (Jigoku, hell)', where people who did bad things during their lives fall (according to Wikipedia J edition). Thank you from Japan, moe moe ho!
