Yep because we are going into another depression but not a big one
Oh, just plain common sense.
@caleb yes sadly
BME Studios I’ve heard it’s going to be bigger.
Big time. She brings joy even in tuff times
I have tears welling in my eyes. I bet she never would’ve thought her tips would be helping others in a pandemic in the year 2020.
I bet she would 🥰 she was wise and magnificent beyond her considerable years
I was watching her videos a few years ago when I discovered this channel. I’m so glad I came back and saw this. Between her and my MIL. Wonderful women and I have acquired great advice.

She said on the tomato sauce episode that she knew God put her here for a reason, she just didn't know what it was. This was the reason.. to show a social media dependant generation how to survive in hard times. Thank so much for blessing the world with the opportunity to learn from such a wonderful woman. May her light shine forever.
Amen you gave us an open window to your comment! God is the gift of life😇😇take care ok
Hallelujah.. my mom was born in 1925.. and her mom my Wonderful Gramma in 1901.. they went through the Depression.. I still remember the stories They told of RECIEVING tickets to buy only a certain amount of flour.. Sugar.. salt etc.. I was born at the end of 1945... I too seen some ruff times Growing up.. food.. clothes shoes...etc.. we were poor..we got Meat for dinner ONLY ON SUNDAY.. Unless my stepdad killed wild game and brought it to her.. rabbit.. Squirrel's.. frog's ( for frog legs). Eel.. fish.. pheasant.. Deer... So because of our Garden ..& neighbors my mom put 3 meals aday on the table.. we wasted nothing.. left overs were heated up and a new item added to make a new meal.. and you ate what was cooked.. what you put on your plate.. if you didn't eat it.. your plate went in the refrigerator for the next day for you to eat... Like I said we were poor..we wasted nothing... .. my mom's Old Clothes became my new clothes and my old clothes became my sister's new clothes.. my Mom even used her old clothes to make shirts for my brother.... ..
@@nancysparks8168 That is all so true. She reminds me of my Mother and her growing up during the Depression. They never wasted any food. Clothes were worn over and over. And patched. When they absolutely couldn't be worn any more, they were used for cleaning rags.
Bless this lovely lady and her Grandson who taped her, and is now reposting the videos.

my gran used to say back in the 70's, if you sleep in a bed with a roof over your head, clothes on your back and food in your belly, you're doin' alright. you can get by without all that other stuff, cars and movies and parties, Read A Book ! well for a few weeks during COVID19 we can all do it gran's way and make it out the other end.
Amen!
I remember my grandparents telling me that too. We were the lucky ones to have these beautiful & wise people in our lives. 🙏❤
So true, I hope all this what’s going on makes people more appreciative.
Years ago they didn’t have the technology that we have, when they were separated they couldn’t just pick up the phone next to them . At least we can FaceTime and talk on the phone to our loved ones. I hope it makes people stronger and makes them not depend on takeaways and learn how to cook ect.
God bless her soul, your gran was a wise woman
Absolutely,we are spoiled these days.We have computers, food, freedom so much freedom.Maybe coronavirus will stop us for a while and make us realize what we are losing...
My grand ma is 101 . She lived through the depression. Grew up on a homestead in montana . They didnt even know there was a depression. They were 100% self sufficient. Went to town only a few times a year. She grew up to be a highly successful rancher and built a huge cattle ranch. But always warned that the depression would come back!
Having visited Montana, I was impressed by your spirit. I've no doubt you're thriving through this!
Much like my family. Done well during the depression. So well that apparently they didn't even know there was one until they went to school and saw how the other kids were....
My grandpa would be 101 this year. He grew up on a farm in Kansas and used to say that the depression didn't change his life much but he knew it would have been catastrophic for his family had they lived in the city and had lost their jobs.
Yes I've helped take care of many people who grew up on farms in the Depression, and they were self sufficient and hardly noticed there was a Depression

Clara’s stories AND recipes kept me going through 2009-2011. I still eat a dandelion salad every spring so I never forget. Her lessons are invaluable, and her strength is timeless.
That's so lovely
I loved Dandelion salad. I was introduced to it by my depression era grandparents (I am 63). Their entire back yard was a garden, the lawn part was dandelions. Today we kill them as weeds.
Olive Oil, Vinegar, Salt, Pepper was all you needed. You could get away with just Olive Oil as a dressing.

Y’all this was uploaded only 6 days ago.. I think she’s alive still- but idk..
I used to watch her videos 10 years ago and my mom's side were Sicilians who went thru the Depression. I loved Clara. Miss her. Miss my grandmother so much. Special people who had so many stories. And boy could my grandmother cook!
LimitlessThinker
My great grandmother was born to two Italians from Naples. When I was either in middle school or high school (I forget), I did an ancestry report for class. I asked her “Grandma, are we from Naples or Sicily - I forget.” I’ll never forget her response, because I’d never seen such a look of horror and shock (and basically offensive disgust) from her lol.
She turned around and stared right into my soul and said slowly and clearly, “WE ARE FROM NAPLES AND DON’T YOU EVER FORGET IT!!” I didn’t; that’s for sure! She was the most wonderful relative in my whole family and was always jovial and cracking jokes - that was the most serious I’d ever seen her.
I initially couldn’t understand why she came off as being offended for my simple request for clarification, but later on I figured it out: there was quite the difference in the peoples and culture from central Italy and the southern island of Sicily. For the most part, Sicilians were generally much darker from having been more affected by breeding with Africans in their history, to the point that northern and central ltaIians thought of them as basically bIack and not related haha.
I bet your Nonna could cook! If you haven't you should check out Buono a Petiti. Gina Is an older Sicilian lady and still has a very heavy Italian accent. I absolutely adore her! The first video I watched of her she was making dough in a large tote with about 20 POUNDS of flour!! She never even broke a sweat and at one point her grandson (who is the videographer)if she was having a hard time and she says 'Ahhhh it's not so hard' and THAT is why you don't mess with an Italian Momma/Nonna! She has the strength in her forearms to backhand you across a room if you backtalk her! LOL
LimitlessThinker I’m full blooded Italian and I miss all of the cooking my family did. Homemade pasta, pasta sauce (though some call it gravy I learned) simmering for up to 3 days on the stove top, big meatballs, ravioli, and so much more. Though I was born in the U.S. I’m very blessed to be raised with a lot of Italian traditions.
I was just thinking about her the other day!!!! Much love guys thanks for this!
I whole heartedly believe that this woman is continuing to help those who couldn't afford to stock up for the covid19 lock down through her recipes and advice. I have nothing but respect for her ❤️

I grew up dirt poor in the rural South. I am 44. Her tips are spot on. People still get by like this all the time. I am glad others have the benefit of her wisdom on CZcams
I no longer poor or live in Louisiana, but I still live by these ideas.
What we're going thru now, is but a hickup compared to the times Clara experienced. We have much to learn from her and folks of that time. The least of which is the gratitude to have what we have. We will get thru this hickup and hopefully be better because of it. Take some of this surplus time and talk with God. He's listening.
You'd best enjoy today, because it's going to get worse.
I agree with you 100%. Those people.on here comparing what we are going thru now to the depression are completely clueless. Come and talk to me when you don't have hot water or internet.
@@bigboineptune9567 it never got worse. As a matter of fact it never blew up anywhere near what the govt said it would. And we should be thankful for that.
The Great Depression began in 1929 and didn't really end until WWII. There was no where near the amount of assistance that is available today back then. People had only a few changes of clothing and a pair of shoes. We stand in front of our packed closets and moan,"I don't have a thing to wear"! Until a person has a conversation with someone who went through the Great Depression they have no idea how hard it was.

Miss clara generation is the ones that taught me when i was growing up, my baby boomer mother was a lazy ass but im glad my grandmother was a great cook and made all her own clothes. Never ever wore makeup or shaved her legs was her natural self never smoked did drugs or got drunk. She was born in 1907 died aged 95 no women like her around no more and she was strong and fit. Said never complain about anything and work hard in all you do. Her other moto was if you make a mistake learn from it dont repeat it and release and move on. We need these videos more than ever today. I feel like God has us all in TIMEOUT. Some of us are being shaken to the core more than others. We are spoiled and have mistreated the Earth for such a long time. I know that great things will come from all of this. In the meantime, it will be rough and who knows for how long. Already happening here. With take-out/delivery still as options.
Yeah, no eating in restaurants anymore in Oregon
Only Americans eat in restaurants everyday, the rest of us out there know how to cook
Rootless Wanders well, not all of us Americans can afford to eat at restaurants that often and for some of us we don’t even want to go out to eat that much. The most for me was Chipotle once, sometimes twice, a week. So the closings havent phased me all that much, but for the people who had jobs there I can’t imagine how much it’s already affecting them and their families. This is a very strange and difficult time for everyone.
Excellent advice!! Even for today in the current world we are all now in as a society, History is repeating itself as it does and it seems, we could be near a depression type event again, Our prices are going nuts, people are losing themselves and the sense of security, has lost itself.
