  • Josh purchased an abandoned 1973 Porsche 914 that was literally dragged onto "The Lot" after being left abandoned for approximately 28 years. When revealed to the others at RHG, they look it over and wonder if it was a mistake. What will be the fate of the 914? You decide!

Wheels are aftermarket - in 1973 you either got steel wheels or Fuchs alloy wheels. Focus on the hell hole and how badly rusted / corroded the passenger rear suspension below where the battery was located. Next focus on the rocker panels under the doors and see how rusted they are. All 914s were factory fuel injected. Nearly ever 914 was a 5 speed manual, with the unusual shift pattern of 1st gear being spring loaded in the bottom left, with reverse above. Good luck with restoration!

if you want to bring it back to life you have to disassemble it piece by piece and see the real damage... a restoration can cost you a lot and may not be convenient, especially on old models... the only advice I can give you "before starting make a list and search the net for what you need"

Appreciate the advice. Our first plan of attack after already going through it once is going to be drop the motor and trans so we can start tackling the rust in the hell hole. since making our initial videos on the Porsche we have acquired a replacement fuel tank and passenger door.

@@redheadgarage Heed (EDIT: I can't spell) Mr. Tucker's words carefully. You have no idea the Hell you have unleashed upon yourself. A long time ago I restored Italian stuff and even then (80s) I wouldn't touch old Porches, they were too costly for any hope on a return on your investment. You'd almost be better off finding a another one and use this one as a donor car (if there is anything that can be salvaged from it.) The absolute worst thing you can do to an old German/Japanese/Italian car, is let them sit and rot. Good luck, you'll need it. On the plus side, you've got a new subscriber.

100 hp based on the 1.7-liter engine in model year 1973. Nice car and fun to ride
